Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Is it safe to say that we should all wait for a Planet Zoo 2?
Not there yet. Even though we have some things that could mean support ending, we don’t know for sure. Regardless of everything that has happened over the past couple months, PZ remains to be one of frontiers best profiting games. We don’t know how much of their team is left or if it’s gotten worse after the Eurasia pack, but we do know that them throwing away one of their most consistently profitable games wouldn’t make that much sense.

There is no need for all the panic. It's unfortunate but also logical they are trying to lower some of the costs (by firing staff) because of their financial situation. But they have already said to continue support in 2024 in their report, the DLC still make some good money, they have enough material left for DLC's & we know their next big game is coming autumn of 2024. With that knowledge, we will still get at least 2 DLC's (spring & summer) before they might move on with a new game in autumn. They are not just gonna wait it out till then and lose income on spring/summer packs they could get.

If we are really lucky we might even get more because the DLC's are a safe income at the moment. But that's just if we are lucky :)

Please, no more cats, no more canines, no more bears.
Although I'm not a big fan of birds and monkeys, they bring a lot of new things to the game.
But how many bears can you produce?!
It’s enough that we constantly have clones of ungulates.
We also have a huge pile of animals that are truly unique. The first thing that came to mind:
■Coati
■Tree kangaroo
■Echidna
■Lori
■Tamandua
■Brazilian porcupine
■Honey Badger
■Mara
■Marmota
■Walrus
Well, really, how many of them can you add to sets. People need to be surprised with something new so that they continue to buy DLC. And if in 2023 the developers greatly improved the graphics, then in 2024 it is worth starting to make a variety of animals that have not yet existed, and not just beautiful clones. Sorry, it's boiling.

A walrus being classed as “unique” compared to a seal is just as unique as saying the spectacled bear is unique compared to the rest of the bears. All it has is that separates it from the rest of the seals is tusks.

I genuinely still don’t get why it’s so high up. I get that people like building for semi aquatics but if we are gonna get more of those I would prefer more reptiles and maybe the sea otter, I don’t think another pinniped is needed.

I'm saying that there are a lot of other animals that are more unique.
If you don't think the walrus is unique, okay, I just wrote the first animals that came to mind. I don’t really care about the walrus.
But we only have 2 or 3 pinnipeds and he would be a nice addition.
But if the walrus is not unique, no problem, no walrus.
But if they add another bear, what will the game count be: 7? 8? 10?.

And I honestly don’t understand why everyone is asking for Rhea.
Another ostrich?

It’s not about the kind of animal that matters, but more about regional and ecological niches. The Spectacled Bear and Rhea would be good because they’re iconic species from their region. A walrus doesn’t really add much for example when we already have a seal for cold climates.
Exactly, plus the rhea and bear are both common in captivity, while the Warlus isn't that common. Off of attraction to a general player though (which is probably what frontier considers the most) the Walrus wins easily because it is a very well known ABC animal and arctic animal.

Exactly, I can say that I speak for the majority of buyers, ordinary players.
And beautiful, interesting and colorful animals are much more interesting to ordinary players than 10 black bears. Even if these animals are not kept in almost any zoo in the world. But they are bright, they are new, they are beautiful, interesting and look different.

Reading what several of you have said
I call them Canadian geese or WaWa
Don’t want to call them Canada goose after a company’s inhumane treatment of animals
Sorry to be late to the party but what’s going on with frontier?
As much as I want aviaries, at this point I don’t see it happening especially since they have not given us little birds for WE
Someone said they hope 2024 is the year for the remaining bears when it comes to carnivore spots, I agree as ABB and Andean bears seem pretty essential
When it comes to pinnipeds, I’d like 1 more eared and true seal members. That could give us a fur seal (eared), walrus may be a challenge to make and not as worth it to frontier.
It would seem with the doom suggestions, we can either expect 0,2 or 4 more dlcs and I don’t believe we will get all the animals we want. But perhaps we will get some of the most deemed essential.

Putting aside everyone’s wants and what needs to be added to what continent, what animal out of the current wanted (doesn’t need to be at the top), would truly add the most to the games roster?

Species variety, continental representation, uniqueness, consider absolutely everything.

An african gazelle

It has to either be an full aquatic animal or a water based bird. My pick would be a pelican.
