Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

And yes, it made me longing for more bears. European Brown Bear and Asian Black Bear at least.
With the Spectacled it is a bit like with the Giant Otter for me. Now we have the Sloth Bear, I can look at the Spectacled (or sun bear for that matter) more lovingly.

I just wish the slothy could use the hamrock.

I don’t hate the sloth bear itself I just don’t think it fits with the Eurasia pack, compared to something like the Pallas cat which fits a lot better imo. I also just wanted a different bear but I understand that part cause the other bears didn’t fit with the pack theme.

I‘m with you on all of this but the Asian BB and EBB. If we would’ve got them they would be instead of the HBB and FBB.

I know you know I put Sloth Bears in my old Sun Bear habitat because they’d fit the theme better. They can’t use the hammock which does make me kinda mad.

I agree that it kinda is the odd one in the eurasia pack. I mean it doesnt really bother me, its just that if they are open for warm weather animals there would have been like 30 animals id like to see over the bear.

No one is hating on the bear. We all like it. We just think is an odd inclusion for antoherwise winter feeling DLC (even if most species are just really temperate).

Same here, the sloth bear satisfied that bear itch only due to the fact it looks so good. Any other bear will feel too much of a 'clone' when we can get much more interesting animals instead.

I’m sticking with my spectacled friend. He’s definitely a worthy pick and I will stick with him til the end.

This guys structure and face patterns still manage to make it different than the rest of the bears we have.

Different morphology. Mainly the head/face- is a short face bear.

The head is different than the rest and I believe this bear is slimmer than the rest of the bears, it has short legs and a shorter neck.

Also I just learned that Spec. Bears spend more time in trees than American Black bears. Fun fact of the day.

And what's this about some poeple wanting the Asiatic black bear? Isn't the formosan black bear in game the Asiatic black bear anyways? Only thing wrong about it is the name. You can still use it as a more generic asiatic black bear.

Some people just want 100% clones for some odd reason, you could just change the name or fantasize that it's the other bear/lion, but it's not enough for some that really want that exact species... For me it would be a pure waste of space with many other much more unique species still needing a place in this game.

It’s because it’s hard for some people to get past that fact that it ISN’T that species. Myself included. I cannot simply pretend a Himalayan Brown Bear is a Eurasian one because it isn’t. I imagine it’s the same for the Formosan / Asiatic Black Bear.

I do agree that this is a base game problem though, and the DLC will not make up for the mistakes of that. I gave up hope for my EBB when the Sloth Bear was included in the Eurasia Pack. Still holding out for an anniversary animal, but I’m not hopeful .

Honestly, I’m just holding out for PZ2 at this point. I’ve accepted that the base game screwed up with the inclusions of the HBB and (to an extent) the Bengal Tiger, and that the evermore popular EBB and Sumatran Tiger will likely never get in due to there already being two similar subspecies in game.

Yeah well i get in some cases. Like the Brown bear and base game lion look really cartoony and subpar compared to most of the DLC animals so having new versions even if clones will be like getting new animals (for me a new lion would be a game changer, i use the remaster because they male lion from the base game is what breaks inmersion for me with how cartoony it looks, but i would prefer an official remaster really over a clone in a DLC if i'm honest is just that i don't think that will happen).

I don't personally understand the want for some particular clones (like the flamingo, is literally a paint over the greater flamingo model, of all the flamingo species is the least interesting to me, for pink birds i rather get Scarlet ibis or roseatte spoonbill) but i do see the appeal of some others (sumatran tiger, South african lion which no one talks about, massai giraffe, Grevy's zebra, South american tapir, guanaco).

They are not by no means a priority to me and yes i 'd feel like they would be occupying a slot that could go a much more unique animal but i see how they would be useful or improve on something we already have.

Flamingo + pink, that's it, that's the appeal. While the ibis and Spoonbill would be great, it doesn't have the same feel as a flock of pink flamingos. It also means I don't have to download either the American or Chilean flamingo mod for basically every zoo I build.
