Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Rhea. Idk, I just have a feeling. I really want it though.
Shut up.

We are going to get it. Is the only ratite left and is very important for SA. Is like the boar for Europeans.

Yeah shoebill was my the one i thought of first aswell.
Idk it doesnt have a clear pack theme that its fits well in, a Safari animal pack probably comes closest. Although in a safari themed pack it does have very serious competition from the secretary and grey crowned crane, and the guinea fowl to a lesser extent

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Never understood why is included in "Safari pack" rosters. Is a wetlands bird, not what you really associate with typical safaris. Grey crowned crane, guineafowl and secretary bird live in savanahs and are more common in captivity. They are a way better fit.

Or another pretty big lose being the ground hornbill. It needs a new rig and I don’t see them giving it one. If we already had a rig for it, then I would suggest it for a extra for a Safari pack.

The fact that we got 3 birds in the last 2 packs almost wants to make me hope that maybe frontier will include them more generously in this years packs.
But even if we by some miracle get two birds in a safari pack its gonna be secretary or crane + guinefowl i bet. The safari theme has alot of tall leggy birds to offer (crane, marabou, shoebill, kori bustard and secretary) so if we get 2 birds they are probably would be pretty different from each other

Is there a species thats popular and requested but you think it wont make the cut and why?

(Really meant more or less standard habitat animals here)
Actually at this point, I feel like that may happen with many of the more highly requested animals. Even more so if they're not from Latin American, since I really feel like we're going to get some kind of pack for that. Of course, that's all just my opinion and speculated, but the ones I think have a lesser chance of making it in:
Walrus
Tree Kangaroo
Secretary Bird
Shoebill
Baboon
Muskox

Special call out to the Manatee and we all know why I feel that way.

Hopefully we will get at least a few of these, but I'm already accepting we wont' get them all, and am prepared to accept we may not get most of them.

The mention of the tree kangaroo gave me an idea. What if the did a SA scenery pack in spring with spec, mara, rhea and howler and follow that up with a more general Rainforest animal pack in summer bringing in a couple more SA animals together with the more popular animals from around world like the tree kangaroo and guereza?

I'd be more than happy with that, and that would be a good way to get non-Latin American rainforest animals in. It also means that the Latin American pack won't have to focus on just the rainforest quite as much even if it's a scenery pack as you pointed out. Now, how likely that is, a whole other question.

Twisting that slightly, maybe a Central American Scenery pack (Black Howler Monkey, White Nosed Coati, Ocelot, some surprise animal, and a Two Toed Sloth as exhibit) and then had the Rainforest pack focus about half on the Amazon?

Of course, this means that the chances of animals like the Rhea, Mara and Spectacled Bear making it in would be much less so.

I would be ok with that if:

LATAM scenery pack

1. Greater rhea (clone)
2. Patagonian Mara (unique rig)
3. Mexican spider monkey (unique rig)
4. Spectacled bear / Ocelot (clone)
5. Two toed sloth (clone)

Rainforest Animal Pack

1. Ocelot / Spectacled bear (clone) (or both)
2. South american coati (unique rig)
3. Howler monkey (modified capuchin rig)
4. Tree kangaroo (unique rig)
5. Mantled guereza (nosed monkey clone)
6. Scarlet ibis / Victoria crowned pigeon (modified rig) (or both)
7. Insert random clone choice here
8. Exhibit box reptiles

Ugh i forgot about the Golden lion tamarin and Tamandua. Thing is those are both unique rigs... Too many animals that require unique rigs 😭

Yeah i imagined something like that

Are you serious? Yes, it would. Are you actually denying that aquariums and aviaries bring new elements to the gameplay? Wack. Like I am used to pity denialism and belittling but honestly there is a limit and you just crossed the line, it's like saying marine mania didn't change the gameplay in zoo tycoon. Of course when it comes to mechanics we already got water filtering and temperature management, but it obviously affects how we build our zoos. Cringe.
Iben didn’t say they wouldn’t bring new elements to gameplay - he said it wouldn’t be ‘game changing’… All new animal additions (and build pieces) add ‘gameplay elements. If you don't consider animals we already get as ‘adding to gameplay’ (albeit to different extents) then, no, full aquatics or aviaries wouldn’t be ‘game changing’ in that they wouldn’t substantially change how you play the game - they’d both be on the upper end of the scale of adding new elements to the game but, like Iben said, really “game changing’ additions requires changes to the management aspects of the game.
