Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

How is it obvious? If this is the last pack they're gonna go with the most attention grabbing title and theme, is SA really that?
Yeah probably

It has been weirdly ignored and there's a lot of big names/unusual animals left.

New World Monkeys
Coati
Tamandua
Ocelot
Ibises
Spectacled Bear
Mara
Rhea
Bush Dog

Unless the theme is something really out there, South America is the obvious choice.

The South America Pack full of headliner animals being obvious has the same levels of obvious that we were getting:
  • A south american centric rainforest pack instead of the tropical pack
  • A desert pack covering wide areas of arid biomes from Australia, Africa, the Middle East and North America instead of the arid pack
  • A temperate forest pack centered around Europe and North america instead of the Oceania pack
  • A mountains pack centered around the himalayas and African Highlands instead of the eurasia pack.
Seems like the general idea of the pack is often correctly guessed but the lineup is more often totally wrong.

This is the first time I'm hoping its not the obvious and sticks with this trend of being unpredictable.

Assuming the next pack is the last and a Latin America pack with at least an animal pack's worth of animals, these would make me very happy:
  1. Tamarins: If I get nothing else, I would still be happy with Tamarins. They are adorable, extremely common in zoos, and conservation icons. The Golden Lion Tamarin is my favoite, but the Cotton-Top and Emperor would be nice, too.
  2. Coati and/or tamandua and/or Brazilian porcupine: South America really needs at least one non-primate arboreal thing.
  3. Spider monkey and/or howler monkey: Spider monkeys come in a bunch of colors, but the howler monkey lives more in South America. They both would be welcome.
  4. A pink/red bird: South American sections need a flashy, tropical bird
  5. Ocelot or Margay: We don't have a little jungle cat or a little cat from South America.
These also would be great.
  1. Rhea and mara: They could go with the llama and add stuff for Argentina
  2. Spectacled Bear: This provides the last big-exhibit thing that I would use frequently for SA sections.
  3. Brown Pelican: They could have interspecies enrichment with both pinnipeds and provide a rig for modding.
  4. Muscovy Duck: They are a great option for a bird and provide a rig for modding.
  5. More Monkeys: So many zoos keep new world primates.
  6. Manatee and Sea Turtle: Though they are unlikely, they would be very cool. Perhaps an Arrua River Turtle is more possible?
  7. Pudu: I think a pack like this would probably have an ungulate. The pudu would probably be the most useful for modding.
If it's a general Americas pack and North American Animals are allowed:
  1. American Black Bear: It's the only thing I really need from the continent. I would be really happy with just this one.
  2. Walrus and/or Musk Ox and/or Sea Otter: They are popular and iconic for the arctic
  3. Bighorn Sheep: I also sort of need this one for the canyons of the southwest and the crags of the Rocky Mountains.
  4. Wild Turkey and/or Pelican and/or Some Other bird: North America has no birds. There should probably be at least one.
  5. Grey Fox and/or Coyote and/or Ringtail: The Southwest desert could use a little carnivore.

What is with this sudden campaign against a LATAM pack that you have going on since yesterday? Lol

SA is the most neglected region of the world in the current roster. It needs if now a whole pack, at the very least a pack that gives it priority with at least four five animals.

So if this is the last pack, what do people need it to have to be happy with it?
2 new world primates
3+ habitat birds, one of which must be the Secretary Bird. Strongly prefer the Shoebill as well, but if it's not, I won't be unhappy as long as the other conditions are met.
2 more Latin American animals - strongly heavily want the Spectacled Bear to be one of them, but if it's not, I can't say I'd be unhappy with the pack either, if the other conditions are met.
Cobra for exhibit

That's for the 8 pack. Sorry Baboon and Muskox fans, but if it's an 8 pack, the support I give these animals "for the community" goes away.

ETA: side thought, a bit of a hot take, but what's the thought on a Baboon being considered a clone animal, based off of the Mandrill?

I want SA to have more animals but it getting the last pack to itself while deserved, means no baboon and no african bird, and given the theme probably being jungle that might throw the Pelican into question, these 3 are a make it or break it deal for me. Plus I was never that crazy about a couple of the animals from LA like rhea or coati, my favourites would probably be Spider Monkey (which we probably wont get), Golden tamarin (which we also probably wont get and get howler instead which is ok but not my preferred choice), Spectacled bear (which even that doesn't do that much for me anymore because I lost my OakWood zoo which was the main drive for an american bear, I still want it though just slightly not as much), and a couple underdogs from SA I would also like to see like a camelid or agouti.

If we get DLC's throughout 2024 then these are my ideas ,

ARBOREAL PACK
1. South american coati
2. Black howler monkey
3. Tamandua
4. Ocelot
5. WE: Two toed sloth or Tamarins

SUB SAHARAN ANIMAL PACK
1. Secretary bird
2. Grey crowned crane
3. Serval
4. Honey badger
5. Gerenuk
6. Hamadryas baboon / sifaka
7. Nile crocodile / Spurred tortoise
8. Exhibit: Chameleon

ALASKA PACK
1. Walrus
2. Musk ox
3. Sea otter
4. Canada Goose
5. Exhibit: Wood frog

ALPINE ANIMAL PACK
1. Markhor
2. Yak
3. Pallas cat
4. Spectacled bear
5. Gelada
6. Tree kangaroo
7. Alpine marmot
8. Exhibit : Gaint Salmander

A half and half split would be good enough I guess. It's what i just put in for my 8 pack "to make me happy" roster. 4 Latin American animals, 2 of which are primates, 3 habitat birds, and the Cobra. Granted, that's still no Baboon but it is what it is. 8 spots is not really enough to close out the game IMO.

I Would Probably Replace Tamandua With A Species Of Tree Kangaroo And Add A Bird To An Alpine Animal Pack In Place Of A Tree Kangaroo.

So if this is the last pack, what do people need it to have to be happy with it?
If I have to go with interesting species that could bring new models and rig, I would say:
  • Walrus
  • New world monkeys
  • Hamadryas Baboon
  • Tree Kangaroo
  • Birds
  • Palla's cat (because for a reason that I can't understand there is no good mod of Palla's cat for the moment).
  • Exhibit species like cobra and chameleon

in my opinion I feel we have 2 DLCs left, also for a final pack that could work as a Collab with a major brand.
