Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Also: them saying they “don’t have any plans to release the animals separately” is not quite the same as: “we will never make them available” so I think it’s possible for those who miss preorder they have a chance one day.
Depends how much the console playerbase can be pushed around though, I'm not seeing anyone seem upset by the comment so far that isn't a pc player.

I wouldn’t say this is a sign of a crappy final pack, but this kind of decision definitely fits in with some of their animal picks last year. Makes me wonder if other than the meta wishlist animals which they know people wanted, they actually think about how people will respond to the ones they choose. Like did they question themselves “would players like another gazelle?” Or “is there something else that’s easy to make that most people would enjoy?” Hope they ask themselves these kinds of questions for the finale pack, I mean it’s not hard to choose the wrong animal yet they do time and time again. At this point just get someone to scroll through the speculation threads and see what the community wants lol

I can’t even-

These will be the only people left after support ends 😭

It was the same with planet coaster on console so I really don’t understand your frustration. They also got some console exclusive for the pre-order.
If you want to play with Komodo, buy the pre-order. It’s just plain simple as that.

They would not build the whole preorder campaign around those animals if they would be easily available for everyone anytime.

Maybe in the future they would make them available again but for now it’s better to buy even the simplest version just to secure them for the future.

I talked to many people who plan to buy for console or already bought it and they were not outraged with this idea at all 🤷🏽

If I had to guess they have a secret third option:

  1. What animals can we save to sell in a sequel?
But yeah, Frontiers animal choices can be confusing at times. Like I’m not mad at those who like it, but why the siaga? It’s not even like the musk ox or walrus, a lot of people don’t even know it exists. I think they are cool, but still. Why? So if I had to guess the animal choices come down to a combination:
  1. Is there an animal we can add that will take comparatively less work, but people would still enjoy.
  2. Would players like another x?
  3. What theme are we doing, and what animals can relate to it.
  4. What animals are people requesting (yes I know a lot of people don’t feel like Frontier listens, but they have been adding the top meta wishlist animals for awhile. They just do it in small batches, speaking of)
  5. What animals can we save for future dlc, or a potential sequel
I’m sure there is more that I don’t remember. Won’t lie and say I haven’t thought of Frontier’s animal picking patterns, and their obvious bias to certain animal groups. I’m gonna try to stay optimistic though. It’s the final dlc, so it makes me think Frontier knows they have to go a little crazy. DLC is planned for more than 4 months, so they are spending even longer on it than they do other packs. That gives me some hope.

North vs South Americas pack
. Coati (South)
. RIngtail (North)
. Spectacled Bear (South)
. American Black Bear (North)
. Greater Rhea (South)
. Greater Roadrunner (North)
. Black Howler Monkey (South)
. Squirrel Monkey (North)
. Brazilian Porcupine (South)
. North American Porcupine (North)
. Jamaican Fruit Bat (South) (WTE)
. Mexican Free-tailed Bat(North) (WTE)
Throwing money at the screen for this pack, why isn’t it working!

If we get another North American pack I don’t think it should be a snake, but rather a lizard, like a chuckwalla or something.
How About Whiptail Lizards? They Are Probably One Of The Most Well Known Examples Of Asexual Reproduction And We Don't Really Have The "Generic" Lizard Body Plan In Game Yet.

PZ players finding out what type of company Frontier is. Almost every game got ed in some way, time to PZ lol.
Exclusive pre-order content is very common. So having something locked up in this way says nothing about Frontier as a company IMHO. It's standard practice.

But the language used gives them wiggle room to change their minds at a later date. Which I suspect will happen when they see the demand for it/the money they are leaving on the table. But it would be really bad business to say "Nah, don't worry about the pre-order bonus you can get it later."

So of course they "don't have any plans to release" them separately right now...

Definitely agree. But it would still behoove people to pre-order now, I think, based on this response!

I wonder if that's got to do with the player base. I don't think I've purchased a console game in the last decade that didn't have some kind of pre-order bonus... But it's usually something that doesn't feel all that special in the grand scheme of things.

I hope so too and I think they do ask those types of questions. Thus the camel and black rhino in the Arid pack. Those were in demand/discussed as obvious gaps so even if they weren't the highest... They probably viewed those as key picks. I can't explain the gazelle or donkey in that same pack, though. Hah.

Yeah ive watched a couple.
Its pretty much how i expected, the same game with a slightly different layout and a couple disadvantages
I’m gonna guess the biggest advantage is it’s ease of access, it’s easier for me to buy a $600 Xbox and get the game than it is for me to buy a computer.

I know computers aren’t hard to make, and making them makes them cheaper. That is a huge hurtle for me to run planet zoo well, honestly the new Xbox can probably run a more intensive zoo than my gaming laptop can.

Yeah i meant disadvantages more for me personally, should have said that.
I already have a pc that runs PZ well not great, but well enough for now.
And since i use my PC for other games and stuff aswell upgrading it for 600€ will always be the better option than buying a console for that money.
The fact that id have to wait another year to get all the content "back", the building limitations and having to buy it all again are also dealbreakers for me

I don't expect anything anymore until at least a months from now, so the initial console release calms down and they then release a new DLC on both platforms.
On a side note, I couldn't get more annoyed at Frontier, the console edition and their communication right now.. It's shocking to see a company I once held to high standards degenerate that fast.
(That's aimed at the leading folks, not the devs).
