Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Black footed ferret would be nice, personally I prefer burrowing owls. But I can’t deny the amazing conservation story they have. Another animal that falls into: I wouldn’t ask for it, would be cool to get.

Personally for NA the brown Pelican would be nice, but I would replace one of the rodents with a bird. Either the wfwd or one of the pink trio. Overall a pretty nice pack.

I’m hearing a lot of bird requests, this is frontier we’re talking about, can’t see more than 2 birds.

Heres a question, if you had to keep the themes from 2023 packs, how would you lay them out? You can reverse them if you want as long as you have 2 scenery 2 animal.
I'll go first, I tried to keep it realistic as possible:

Tropical Animal Pack
Lar Gibbon
Red River Hog
Fossa
Asian Water Monitor
Sloth Bear
Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
Greater Rhea
Three Toed Sloth (E)

Arid Pack
African Crested Porcupine
Hamadryas Baboon
Dromedary Camel
Sand Cat
Desert Horned Viper (E)
Africa / Wild West theme scenery & foliage

Islands Animal Pack
Tasmanian Devil
Quokka
North Island Brown Kiwi
Little Penguin
Aye Aye
Banteng
Lowland Anoa
Panther Chameleon (E)

Eurasia Pack
Wisent
Mute Swan
Takin
Sloth Bear
Hermanns Tortoise (E)
Indonesian scenery we would've gotten in the tropical pack.
Tropical Animal Pack:
1. Colombian Black Spider Monkey
2. South American Coati
3. Southern Tamandua
4. Roseate Spoonbill
5. Fossa
6. Red River Hog
7. Mantled Guereza
8. Three Toed Sloth

Arid pack:
1. African Crested Porcupine
2. Dromedary
3. Hamadryas Baboon
4. Grey Crowned Crane
5. Rainbow Rock Agama

Eur Asia Animal Pack:
1. Wolverine
2. Takin
3. Sloth Bear
4. Mandarin Duck
5. Hanuman Langur
6. Blackbuck
7. Golden Pheasant
8. King Cobra

Oceania pack:
1. Tasmanian Devil
2. Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo
3. Little Blue Penguin
4. North Island Brown Kiwi
5. Frilled Lizard

I’m hearing a lot of bird requests, this is frontier we’re talking about, can’t see more than 2 birds.
Also in all fairness, we never expected more than 1 bird in a pack, then we got 2. We never got more than 2 birds in a year, then we got 3.

If we are being positive some good things could happen?

And they will be... Greater rhea and american flamingo. A pelican if we are lucky enough.
Agreed. A clone flamingo and a clone ostrich 😭
Also probably the 2 most boring ones 😂
Honestly I love the American flamingo, but I’m not gonna sit here and act like there wouldn’t be better options.

But this is also why we are probably gonna get the Rhea and Flamingo, easy animals to replicate and fill the SA bird “niche”.

Though considering they made an entire new rig for the mute swan, and didn’t even make it the star of the pack. We could see something really cool. I think it depends on what the other animals in the pack are.

Well now that I thought about it more, if they did the mute swan treatment then we would probably only get a single bird. Same way I think if we get something like the spider monkey we probably won’t get much else outside of playing it safe.

If they are going to combine both though they better pull an Eurasia and only do 3 NA and 5 South American, cause we all know South America needs more. Here’s how I would do it:
North America:
  • Brown Pelican
  • American Black Bear
  • Black Footed Ferret
Then for the South American:
  • South American Coati
  • Ocelot
  • Geoffroys Spider Monkey
  • Patagonian Mara
  • Hummingbirds or Macaws (WTE)

Problem with this is that it involves a bear which we just got, but I think it’s inevitable because the ABB is a big icon of NA. Other than that, 2 new rigs, rest are basically clones.
Personally I’d much rather all of it went to South America but I think I’d be ok with this.
1. Colombian Black Spider Monkey
2. South American Coati
3. Patagonia Mara
4. Roseate Spoonbill
5. American Pelican
6. North American Porcupine
7. American Black Bear
8. Plumed Basalisk

Hey i'm number one rhea fan here. I also accept is a full on clone but it is also one of the few trully essential SA animals left. Most of the other important birds from SA are flying birds so i'll not counting on those. But besides wanting the rhea personally there are some reasons to believe is very likely:

1. Clone. Easy to make. Not much animation work needed.
2. Widespread, common in zoos and popular SA ground bird. So it hits a lot of boxes.
3. It is fairly requested.
4. Is pretty much the only ratite missing, so is weird is not in the game.

I personally think it will be better as anniversary animal to expand on SA base game roster but idk if we are getting another anniversary animal and it might be something else.

The swan is the only reason why i think a pelican is also likely. It will only really need to adapt the rig to fit the pelicans bill which is it's main features but would work well on the swan rig.

I’m also a fan of the Rhea, but I’d much rather have the spoonbill or duck

Ok but there’s a difference between “let’s use this rig and make a cool clone that looks different” and “ok let’s just do a quick colour change and done”
I’m not disagreeing with you, Rhea is the smaller grey ostrich and the Caribbean Flamingo is just more pink.

I’m trying to balance being optimistic and realistic. Frontier knows we want more birds, and that we want SA rep. They also know we want other complex mammals, like the monkeys. So I can see Frontier trying to balance the time it would take to produce the more complex animals we ask for, while also trying to give us the other stuff we want. It isn’t the preferred outcome, but that’s where the Rhea and Flamingo fall in.

They are good filler animals, would I rather get more complex birds? Absolutely. I’m just trying to think of where Frontier is right now, and it’s not like they haven’t done something like that before.

I’m not disagreeing with you either, I think the Rhea is cool! Regardless of the “clone” status. It has a spot in this game, which is the same way I feel about the Caribbean Flamingo. Which is hill @Captain Callum and I will die on.
