Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

1,000 times - one for each day without monkey
The fact we've gotten as many apes in DLC as monkeys in DLC is outright astonishing - in a bad way - considering the real life ratio. Over 300 monkeys and just over 20 apes, granted some of those are likely subspecies as well.

I stand by my opinion that Frontier has truly created an amazing roster of mammals. This is really the main area where they're lacking.
Edit - not a fact, I understand, sorry!

What if next pack is just Asia 😂
Froniter after Eurasia pack be like

Totally.

Like, my ideal SA pack would be something like:
  1. Patagonian mara
  2. Greater rhea
  3. Scarlet ibis
  4. Black howler monkey
  5. Spectacled bear
  6. White-faced saki
  7. Southern screamer
  8. Green anaconda (E)
3 funky birds, 2 popular monkeys, the librarian bear, a rabbit wannabe, and the powerhouse snake. That's not bad...

Of course, that still leaves out a bunch of choices, like a coati, a porcupine, ducks, etc.

But I think that this pack has potential, honestly, and it spices things up by giving us animals nobody really thinks about when making wishlist packs. After all, who else would think of the screamer other than the bane of Planet Zoo-keepers worldwide: DarthQuell?
Omg just the thought of howler monkeys echoing from off in the distance in my zoo….i need it. So many memories of hearing them at the San Francisco Zoo as a kid.

Birds, monkeys and SA are the most lacking areas in the animal roster, i think everybody can more or less agree on that.

But imo small animals in general are something that still could be greatly expanded upon and isnt really mentioned much, and with small i mean like fox sized and down.
To be fair we have come leaps and bounds since the basegame in this regard, but i think there is still room for improvement.
I mean the game as a whole is geared more towards big animals in how big most pieces, enrichment items and so on are, so i kinda get why the focus has been on the bigger ones.
Imo small animals are usually alot more fun to build for since you can put alot of detail in without it taking days to build, and you can always find a small spot somewhere to add one.

While I agree we need more small animals it’s interesting that a fair chunk of the meta wishlist top animals are on the larger side (Secretary bird, walrus, baboon) so I don’t think too much of the general community cares about the size of the animals.
I don’t really have a preference building for small or large animals, smaller are easier cause it’s less space to cover but detailing isn’t a problem for any size of animal for me; the only thing the size of the animal does to me is how long it takes to finish the enclosure.
Recently I think they’ve nailed the small to big ratio pretty well - the last pack was mostly big animals but the Oceania pack was all tiny and tropical and arid were a mix of both each time.

When i look at the meta wishlist i do see primarily smallish animals, which i agree are probably not here because of size, but because the majority of the prominent large animals have already been added.
Honestly the only animals, that are reasonably high on the list, that i would classify as large are the musk ox and walrus. I mean secretary and baboon arent exactly tiny but calling them larger animals is quite a stretch imo.

Honestly i could see a pretty cool east asia pack with tanuki, mandarin, golden pheasant and reeves muntjac
East Asia pack without the Père David’s deer would be let’s say… a grand disappointment.

Asia could really use an animal pack:
1. Markhor
2. Blackbuck
3. Golden snub nosed monkey or any Indian monkey
4. Pheasant
5. Pallas cat
6. Tanuki
7. Père David’s deer

What's your top Mammal pick for each continent? (including Antarctica if you want)

What's your top Habitat Bird pick for each continent? (my personal rule of thumb is: Birds that would have a decent quality of life if their wings were amputated/clipped)

What's your top Exhibit Animal pick for each continent?

I love this idea though I find it so interesting you chose to make the parrot an exhibit animal but not the earth worm.
Yeah, it was 2am, so not the clearest thinking by me. Echidna and a Hare would also be pretty safe to replace some moles in a serious suggestion for the theme.
