Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

I don't understand all the hate and anger. The community has been asking at a pretty high request rate for a petting zoo/children's zoo, improved walkthrough exhibits for years. We are finally getting this with new mechanics, and animals to go with it, and now all the negative comments. Personally I think this is one of the best DLC to date, because of functionality and what the game, or future games my hold for this franchise. Is it birds, is it monkeys, no...but it still has some good meat to it.
It's got more to do with timing than the pack or the update itself. If there was assurance that there was at least one more DLC coming, I honestly think the response for a lot of people would be a total 180.

I think what we're learning is that people do want this feature (and the related animals) but not at the expense of the more-requested wild animals. If we somehow find out that there's another pack/update coming after this one? Some people will definitely simmer. I also think that once the embargo is up and people can see all the scenery items we'll see some of the negativity dissipate.

That's been the general theme of this discussion/pack whenever it comes up in this conversation: "Yeah, I want that and agree it would be useful... But only toward the end of the game after we've gotten everything else."

Of course, there's the people who have zero interest in domestics and aren't really builder-builders so... Those people are just never gonna be happy with this one. Which also makes sense. Haha.

I wanted my most incredible pheasants and wild animals, what do I get for a chicken!
I'm angry, I won't buy this package, I consider it a huge waste of time.

BUT I had an idea for a management game, why don't you create a FARM game, similar to jw2 and planet zoo

This pack is not about farming, it is about domestic animals which are represented in zoos fairly commonly for either educational purposes, or as a way to teach small kids about animals. I mean, you can dislike the pack all you want, but you cannot really say these animals do not belong to a zoo game, because real life zoos prove that wrong.

It’s kind of funny when you think about it 😜
The thing is we were right really early on. There was huge discussion of what fits the spring theme and we did decide domestics was a high possibility mostly due to rabbits and the theme fitting a scenery pack better than the americas. We just eventually dropped the idea because everyone kept arguing about whether it was a good idea. Alot of people actually did correctly predict highland cattle.

I do think its safe to say that based on all previous knowledge that another animal pack right after an animal pack, no exhibit and with scenery was not going to be predicted by anyone.

Bro now JWE2 is going to get megalodons💀

Idk for me megalodon works better as a stand alone cenozoic animals than a mammoth or smilodon would have
Likely for the same reasons the Dunkleosteus works fine as a standalone animal... or any aquatic predator for that matter... what are you going to pair with a giant, carnivorous fish?

Yeah since they are not "obviously not dino era animals" so its easy to just lump them in there like the permian animals. Like its pretty common knowledge (i hope) that mammoths and co didnt live in the mesozoic. Whereas i wouldnt be suprised if many didnt know that otodus megalodon lived only 3 million years ago

I'm in agreement with @Marvinb. A smilodon and a mammoth seem way outta place.
It'd be like of Planet Zoo had only 2 birds its whole lifespan.
In the case of the fish, pelycosaurs, etc., at least those look like dinosaurs. Scaly skin, claws, tusks, teeth. I mean, to be honest the feathered dinosaurs stick out for me, only because Jurassic Park has always been more into fantasy than history. So, having a game where most of the animals are reptiles/reptile-like, having a mammal suddenly thrown in is kinda weird

Also helps that the designs for lystrosaurus and especially dimetrodon are waaaay to reptilian looking :D

So true. Many many posts about what bird could come next. A chicken was probably among the lowest talked about choice.
