Spring dlc Speculation 2023

And who's to say people would hate it?
You don't speak for everyone here, and there's already been proof that a DLC around this theme is liked. While it's not for everyone, there's no reason to believe that it wouldn't be popular. We've had proof of kinda mediocre packs that have sold quite well: Twilight pack, Southeast Asia, Arctic

Can't say much about the SE Asia pack, but considering 3 of the 4 Twilight animals were fairly high in the Meta list (far higher than any farm animal) I fail to see how it could be called mediocre... and that's one of the big issues with a farm pack; if the meta list is anything to go by, very few people want them.

To get back on sidetrack, if they were seriously going to redo the original movies it would have to be a a full reboot, by which I mean remade from the ground up. For the prequels to make any sense at all, they'd need to better flesh out the plot, pacing and characters; more so than could be done with the movie trilogy format... I know... I've tried...

I've figured it out! The spring dlc will be two subspecies of saiga and a couple of ducks!

... almost certainly not, but one can dream right?

For some reason my phone is being very odd about the quote function, but jumping into a conversation from a few pages back, I also hope that we get some updates to challenge mode. The ability to turn in random events would breathe so much life into the game. What kind of events? Well how about -

10 diseased zebra have been dropped off in your trading centre and you need to deal with them within x amount of time or lose your zoo license

An imports ban has shut off your access to the habitat or exhibit animal market for the remainder of the year

A green engery push will reward sustainable zoos

The plant a tree society will reward any zoo with x amount of t

Yes, but not necessarily in that grouping. And the meta-wishlist isn't the only place. A lot of people apparently didn't like the Twilight pack, plus a lot here weren't too excited for it, either

We have a whole thread proving otherwise

Please. This is what I've been wanting since the beginning...

They were very controversial, mostly because of the squandered potential of the "nocturnal" pack. Instead of gettibg some actual nocturnal specialists which would likely never come in other packs, we got a bat and 4 habitat animals that fit much better into a forest pack than a nocturnal pack.

Add to thst the focus on carnivores and the fact that 3 of those are considered by many people in europe and the US to be vermin/roadkill, and you'd get why the pack as a whole was so contriversial.

But anyhow, throwing my hat in the speculation ring, I don't anticipate deserts arriving in spring, but for 2023 I still deeply want a desert pack, it's one of the least represented biomes with huge diversity potential both for species and location. Consider something like:

  • Dromedary Camel
  • Addax
  • Roadrunner
  • Collared Peccary
  • Sandcat
  • Onager / Somali Wild Donkey
  • Hamadryas Baboon
Ex: Camel Spider / Chuckwalla

I did want to add coyote but I didn't want North America to dominate the roster as it tends to nowadays.

There's been proof that we're getting at least 4 more DLC. Where it is I forget...

I never understand why the South East Asia Pack is seen by some people Like that. It was a pack with a lot of very high ranked animals at a time in which the Meta Wishlist was still at the beginning (Clouded Leopard, Malayan Tapir, Babirusa and Binturong all should have been within or near the Top 20 at this time, the Sun Bear already was leaked which could have influenced its votes), a typical Dog or cat "clone" and an unexpected but very Special looking choice with the Monkey.

I think "here" is the right word. I have the feeling the Twilight Pack was much more well seen outside our Forum.

About a Farm Pack: I do not need it personally and even if there are a lot of people which want them there are is also a higher number of people which do not want a pack just considering of Farm animals. I personally think that we will never see such a pack. Frontier will go (and this is understandable) the safe way with "normal" packs as there is a high risk that some customers will not buy a Farm animals only pack.

That’s only true if you treat ‘wallaby’ and ‘kangaroo’ as single species. IMO, we need at least a couple more macropods, a monitor, echidna, tree kangaroo and more before we can talk about Australia being ‘complete’ - since the grassland DLC we have a good range of animals and have the most critical but, whilst SA is clearly the least ‘complete’ (since it lacks key species, most particularly, monkeys), Oceania remains, in relative and absolute terms (considering species in international collections), less ‘complete’ than either Europe or North America - neither of which is particularly well represented in zoos outside their respective regions.
I agree with the general point, eventhough the last point is hypocritical.
All 3 regions arent generally well represented outside of their respective continents.
If we go by number of zoos of each continent we have europe >> North america >>>>> oceania and while thats obviously not a perfect measure of how important their representation is, its wrong to call either europe or australia complete but not the other from that perspective, as while both are pretty much complete on an international level both are defenetly not from a local perspective.
Both currently are fine, with europe arguably having the more important missing animals that actually are zoo staples all around the world like the mallard duck, white stork and mute swan, aswell as the extremly common wild boar and moufflon for european zoos.
Ofcourse australia also has some like the budgie, pig nosed turtle and victoria crowned pidgeon but i think you get the poinz.
Both are imo very comparable in how much is needed for that reason and i hope both wont be overshadowed by other animals.
The little guys sit in the same boat

This perfectly underlines what annoye me about the domestic discussion.
This isnt in any way against becks, but anybody arguing against them says it wouldnt sell well, people wouldnt want it, etc, when it should be clear as day that a petting zoo pack would be an amazing pack to 80% of people not on the forums.
Reddit likes them, face book likes them, the normally in discussions so often brought up casual audience that apparantly doesnt know more then 5 animals to argue against a bit more out there animals would defenetly love and know domestics, so really the only place with push back comes from like 20-30 people on the forums, defenetly not majority of the playerbase.
Ofcourse everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if anybody doesnt want one thats totally fine, but saying things like its unrealistic cause the majority of people doesnt want it is just wrong and borderline delusional when Really its just like the twillight pack where the forums will be meh about it and buy it anyways cause more content and everybody else will be estatic

You do not need a majority which does not like that pack. If you have 30 per cent which do not like it and 20 per cent which would not buy it you will get 20 per cent less money (Perhaps) compared to a Safe Pack. But we will see but as I said, I do not believe in Frontier going into a much more risky pack.
And as other people can and shall argue for a pack they want I can always say my opinion if this topic comes up again. And I clearly prefer wild animals over domestic ones.

I'd prefer something like a Radiated Tortoise which is smaller choice contrasting with our current giant tortoises.
oh we have a giant tortoises? lol, just a joke cuz the sizes of the current tortoises are so small.. I hope this year we will get another tortoise (Pls African Spurred Tortoise but I also would love Radiated Tortoise, I would love both!) but I hope if we will get another tortoise it will make frontier increase the current tortoises, because now they look so tiny. even though frontier might not touch on those tortoises, as we saw with the Striped Hyena and the Spotted Hyena, that in real life Spotted Hyenas bigger then Striped Hyena and in our game It's the other way around and Frontier didn't do anything with it so there's a big chance that if we get another tortoise they won't do anything with the current tortoises, but who knows! I just want to see another Tortoise in the game.

So, this proposed Man-made Animal Pack... would we still be releasing them to the wild? Or would we go with something realistic, like "ship to slaughterhouse"?

I think "release to qild" in this case means "send to farm or sanctuary". At least that's what I assume is happening to the llamas.

I also wanna go back to a Domestic DLC. As much as it could divide the community, I feel like once it releases and everybody sees it it'll actually be well loved. I just have a feeling
I would not want domestics to take the spots of my favorite wild animals, but I know a lot of people want this pack. If they are planning on supporting this game for another two years, a domestic pack could work well. I would rather they rip the band-aid off and release it sooner in that case. I think people would be less upset if one came around the announcement that we will get another year of support than they would be if it was one of the last packs.
