Stack otional internal modules in larger slots

This is simply an IRL gameplay improvement idea, as in real life you can stack multiple smaller things in a larger space. Think of boxes in a box truck or moving van.

Now I am not saying you that should be able to fit two sizes 1 module in a size 2 bay. Not all things are the same size or shape, so that would be unreasonable on my part.

What i would like to see, is the ability to stack multiple modules in a slot that is larger than the modules sizes added together.

For example, two sizes 1 module could fit into a slot 3 but not a 2, or even a slot 4 and not a 2 or 3.

Basically, add 1 or 2 slot sizes to the modules you are wanting to put in the same bay. In this way IRL you would have room to put various shaped items in an area.

This would be beneficial to those who want to do more than one thing, like explore and mine. Right now for deep space exploring there are specific things you need to take, and if you also want to be able to mine to do double duty, or refill mats from rings or planet surfaces, you often have to choose between items because they cant be stacked.

But this would give the additional choice of using smaller modules in addition to the current choice of a single module per slot.

And let's be honest, having a size 1 limpet controller in a size 3 or larger slot is rather inefficient.

A further limiting factor, could be that a special cargo bay would be required to stack other modules and bays. So there would be a cost of credits and weight to combine them. Just like any other module or bay in the game, if you dont need it, you dont have to buy it. But it is there for those that do.

I dislike anything that supports the idea of making ships capable of more and redcuing the consequences of ship build choices.
We have too much power creep already and suggestions like this and many others have the effect of moving us towards a homgenous one size fits all kind of multirole ship design.

This sort of suggestion has already been made numerous times as some kind of module bay splitter. Suggestions such as being able to split a module bay into two slots, one 2 classes lower and one 3 classes lower (such as a class 7 into a class 4 and a class 5, for example), have been made but would be quite hard to balance as larger slots are currently incredibly inefficient for the majority of purposes as some things offer a linear performance increase with increased size while others require an exponential increase in size to increase performance.
