Star Citizen Discussion Thread v11

On the refunds sub someone picked up on this from CIG's latest update:

"They also fixed a jitter offset computation error with unified raymarching so that it works in harmony with the guided filter denoiser, and added transmittance-weighted depth-computation, which controls the width of the denoise kernel tin guided filtering and raymarching up-sampling results.“

Now, don't know about anyone else, but usually when someone starts using buzzwords against a generally non-technical audience, it means you are trying to pull the wool over someone's eyes.

Just to go back a few days...

There was talk about Turbulent, a Canadian web design studio. If any one need a giggle it's worth a look. The case study for Start Citizen is jaw dropping.

“Someone changed skin shader Jx parameter to 0.02” doesn't have the same ring to it.

CIG seem to have a rather unhealthy fascination with Bartenders

The funny part is how, the further on we get, the less of it is ready.
Working → finalizing animations → kicked of R&D → random research (no development) → defining → experiment with “feel”, placeholders → fleshing out flow → not yet on the home stretch for animation → unspecified “working on” → … → first iteration not done.

CI¬G would probably be better of releasing today than they will be in five years, when everything is far far less developed than it is right now.

That indeed is funny. CIG have invented backwards development. NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!

Funny as hell.

For anyone wondering about this, CIG released a new marketing video talking about how they are now moving away from free landing in restricted landing zones to requiring you follow a path down to the landing zone.

Give it another 8 years and they will be back at removing free flying anywhere on the planet and video cut scenes of you landing.

At which point they will declare their kickstarter goals fulfilled.
