My main complaint with the flight model in SC is that the thruster input is purely digital and over zealous...where as in Elite, it's analogue and extremely controllable. Makes all the difference when flying with a HOTAS for me. SC was designed at source to be flown via M/KB...Elite, not so much.

It isnt so much that the input is digital, it is just how it fundamentally works that makes it awkward (at least in coupled mode). If you set your HOTAS to 1/4 throttle, it sets the target speed for the ship and SC will go at 100% thrust until your ship reaches the speed. You aren't setting thrust to 1/4, you are setting your target speed.

If you fly decoupled and you set your HOTAS to 1/4, now it is setting the thrusters to thrust at 1/4 power. I pretty much fly decoupled 100% of the time at it is much more natural. Going back to coupled and the throttle response is a bad experience for me.

SC isn't so good for keyboard users. Mouse is fine.

Decoupled is key in SC. Then fly the Vectors! That’s how I fly the 600i. Once I went dual sticks, it made all the difference in the world. I went back to ED with FA Off and dual sticks flying was fun. But, again, I prefer SC.

Counterpoint: say that to carriers, refueling, repairing, ship modularity, 100+ star systems, VR support, persistence, 1000+ player servers, a single player campaign... ;)

No argument there, but, as of today, I see iterative development going on with additional planets and features coming to market, whereas, in ED I see stagnation.

Lolno.

You should try out Elite then. It does pretty much all the things you want, only better.
You might also want to try out some modern flight sim to get a feel for how airplanes fly (and why).

Here is my modern flight sim for you:

She was a wonderful bird. I do miss it, but, my family outgrew it and we needed a bigger plane.

You should probably try one.
That, or you should stop completely undermining every point you ever make by — and I can't think of a better way of saying this — lying.

Your claims and assertions hold no value because you have this very interesting tendency to say things that are very clearly, very obviously, demonstrably and undeniably false. You do this very often. You seemingly do it on purpose.

Why would I lie? Its to easy to look at the FAA registration and figure out things.

Why would I lie?
I have no idea. I would ask you to come up with a reasonable explanation, but you have given me ample reason to just reject it out of hand.

Come to think of it, at this point, I have every reason to believe you don't even play SC, much less any of the other games you love to compare it to.

Why would I lie?

No idea why you would lie, but you say things that are factually untrue as though they are true (flying a ship in elite is like flying an airplane for example) for whatever reason. You also specifically avoid answering questions with specifics when pressed and just dodge or change topic.

So, only you can answer the quoted question. The rest of us can only observe.

Counterpoint: Squadron 42 chapter development is in stagnation.

Yeah, bizarre comparison. ED has most of its staffing on closed door DLC dev. You wouldn’t really expect to see much progress in game.

Thanks to the miracle of SC open dev, assuming roadmap accuracy, we can see a genuinely concerning lack of progress on the closed door SQ42 project, however.

SC itself is only really getting a dollop of sizeable content now at the end of the year. And most of that being assets yet again, not game mechanics. (Unless you want to pretend there’s a stealth mechanic, like the Citcon demo ;))

And that’s with 5x the staffing.

That doesn't make it any less false.

In modern airplanes, I’m sure your tracking types of drag, gravity, etc. Here is a simple graphic to illustrate:

What we currently don’t have is thrusters that work in conjunction with flight control surfaces, so modern aircraft are very susceptible to parasite drag.
