But still, SC every 3 months gets more of new content, than ED during last 3 years.
Even if that were true (hint: it's not because lmao just look at it), wouldn't you expect a game that is in development and supposedly, allegedly coming out in a year or two to be in a phase where new content gets slotted in on pretty much a daily basis; wouldn't you expect a game that has been out for over half a decade to be in a phase where new additions come at a more measured pace, if at all? Did you know that SC takes up more HD space than Kings Quest III — presumably, this is also an argument in its favour… somehow?

And still, SC gets pretty much no new content — just more broken bits and pieces of tech demos that don't actually work other than to tick off boxes by the narrowest margin in an ever-shrinking list of things that should have materialised years ago but which are now being rushed out as pure comedy options. Because unfortunately, adding more broken bits does not tally up to more game content — it only makes the game more broken, incomplete, and laughable.

it's just old, shallow, dull, repetitive, still half-implemented in all aspects.

Well yes, but they are working on it and one day SC might make it out of alpha! They will wheel CR out of retirement to cut a ribbon or something. On that day they will announce they have achived 70 people on a server, a second system was added, maybe even salvaging, and perhaps the Idris will be flyable.

Meanwhile actual comments from backers:

My mate Jynx getting in on the comments I see. We hang out in game a lot since we're both miners ...All the comments are from the SC test chat I imagine since most of the names are regular contributors in there...Jynx, Revan, Zenubi and Spectral being the most prevalent. Jynx and I also get banished every so often...off topic stuff and general nonsense mainly, we're both Scots so we tend to get carried away.

All the contributors in those screenies are also long term concierge backers with the exception of Gh0st...Only seen him once or twice in there and he's fairly new to SC (No avatar pic). We're not all pokemon whales defending the virtue of SC...if it's crap... like the 3.9 dumpster fire, we say so but try to help folks get past the worst of it so they can at least play or recover their stuff in game ;)

A lot of folks pop into test chat, post their particular bug or error since most of us in there are regular testers and IC contributors so we tend to know all the workarounds if there are any... or if it's a new bug/crash we'll forward to IC if we can reproduce it in game... It's live chat so it enables quick responses. There are generally more helpful people and info in test chat than anywhere else on Spectrum...plus it saves wading through a myriad of troll posts in general chat or inane IC reports just trying to find a quick and often simple solution or workaround.

You can infinitely cry that SC is scam, it's not released, swishing failed roadmaps.

Of course ED is not doomed - it's just old, shallow, dull, repetitive, still half-implemented in all aspects. Thus, even now, being an early alpha, SC is already more fun and engaging than ED. And as a result...

:)

Elite is consistently and systematically considered at the top of all kinds of space game rankings. Been for quite a while and still is. A few samples form the past few months:

If SC really is more fun and engaging than ED, where is SC in those rankings?

They're just haters. Haters that cannot stand the BDSSM manifesting before our very eyes*.

* a figure of speech - we know that it's all in the pipeline

Firesprite are listed as developing one or more game(s) for Xbox Series X (as are FDev). Guard Frequency found the direct links including the loan between CIG and Firesprite.

Firesprite also retweeted this:

Xbox Series X port of Squadron 42? Possible but a good while off with how poor the NPC AI is currently, the tech needs a lot more work. And the Sq42 roadmap died in March after months of stagnation.

Xbox Series X port of Theatres of War, maybe even the PC iteration too? Much more likely, because it's strictly 20vs20 Battlefield-like PvP matches so it won't need any NPC AI. Plus it's scheduled to enter public testing later this month. Quicker to develop, test, bug fix and port.

The Calders will want their RoE. And the credits screen for Theatres of War will be interesting to read.

So this is fun :D

It's interesting to lay out the dates:

  • Contract to develop a video game signed: Jan 2017
  • Upfront payments made to Firesprite via a lien: Jan 2018

Looking at all of that together, the Firesprite deal is clearly a pre-existing CIG plan, not a Calders ones. And I'm not sure if ToW fits the bill, given how late in the day it's sprung into life.

Possibly the Firesprite deal was an attempt to dial up something more immediately deliverable though, for sure. And maybe with a view to attracting investment.

The console angle is still confusing given that timeline. Dev kits for the latest gen were only really rolling out in late 2019. Anyone know if it's possible to prep a port almost two years before dev kits are available? I know prior work is possible, but is that pushing it?

If that kind of pre-amble is feasible, then a SQ42 port does seem like a possibility.

And if that's the case, may the gaming gods have mercy on their souls...

SC transcends any mere mortal rankings!

Star Citizen is similar to Zen and or the various different beliefs and practices of a mantra or a particular religion, one either gets the concept or doesn't. All of which can be discussed, debated etc etc etc. And in doing some, some can, would and have changed their concepts. But that still doesn't change nor ever can, the concepts of others. Being correct doesn't mean someone else is wrong!

No. Placing your incompetent wife on the board of directors to draw a director's salary (after having spent some time not telling backers that the woman is your wife) means it's a scam.
