Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

It's been more than a year since the "Idris Attack" mission was described in ISC, which gave the impression it was coming in 3.9 ( LINK ).
Nah, ETF found way too many issues with it that Ci¬G weren't able to sort out. It was replaced by Xenothreat in the end anyway...and possibly similar events in the future, we'll see. Ci¬G aren't too good at following through with gameplay content they incessantly talk about. After all, talking about it costs nothing :)

Looks like the critics are having their say on Spectrum at the moment, and the faithful are not as vocal for once.

I suppose the mods are hovering, looking for an excuse to lock the threads.

It's the vehicle team and marketing department who are responsible for that abomination...a 2 seater ROC is about as useful as chocolate underpants. Dan Trufin and his team over in Frankfurt develop the process and the gameplay, not the vehicles :)

I like Dan Trufin, he and his team listen to our feedback, act on it and produce results, improvements and playable content every patch...unlike the rest of Ci¬G. He's one of the few competent managers that Ci¬G has. Magic Germans once again :D
Let's hope he won't have to say no to Chris.

Is there somewhere a spreadsheet listing times from pilot seat to outside, and the other way around, for every ships ?

Think I saw something like this for "dorm rooms to ships" (but I can't find it either)

Curious to see what you need this info for...
In an Aurora it's around 7 seconds.
For ED, it's 2 seconds for every ship.
Outside>innerthought get into ship>ship opening animation>get into ship animation>(innerthought close door>)reach seat>innerthought sit down>sit down animation in 7s? Sorry but I don't believe you.

Why should I have to justify my request btw? But whatever... If you need one: I want to know how much time of fidelicious emergent gameplay I'm missing with a fade to black ;)

None.

So in an Aurora, you miss around 5 seconds.
In a Hammerhead, if you get lost inside the ship like me the first time, you can miss 5 minutes (time to understand the corridors and find the cokpit).

Bruh, you don't understand.

It's all about the feelings you get when you walk up to your ship, rejoice at the fact that it (a) actually spawned this time and (b) did not fly away into the distance all by itself when you approach it, press a button for the ramp to extend close to but not touch the floor because the floor is lava and will melt your ship right through it, walk up the ramp, press a button to enter a forced perspective animation of your avatar sitting down into the cockpit, press another button for it to turn on and shiver uncontrollably like a crackhead needing a fix, then eventually maybe manage to fly away without it exploding and killing you forcing a repeat of the last 5-15min.

Half-joking - it is indeed cool to walk up to your ship, see a ramp extend for you to climb on and etc. Very sci-fi like and what a lot of people want from a space game. When it comes to SC it's just a bit.. broken.

If the physics engine were not foobared causing ships to spontaneously launch themselves into space as if a giant hand threw them half way across the galaxy solar system, if getting into and out of your own ship was not a lottery in terms of will I enter/exit correctly, magically teleport 10km away, or will the ship shake itself into a million tiny pieces, then yeah.. feelings.

My one relief with this refuelling thing, Dan Trufin's team is now in control of it. He's done wonders for mining.

Well now ED has legs SC could fight back by refuelling from Gas Giants :)

He's one of the few competent managers that Ci¬G has.

Goodbye Dan, you did good work but sooner or later you'll say something is impossible or ridiculous or make some other factual statement and that will be the end of that. You could change from being German to Geryessir but that would make you hate yourself and your job.

Broken and mandatory.

That's why wanted to get those numbers: to see how much time it'd take in the best case scenarios, to see if the chore could be manageable if the broken was out of the equation.

Though "broken" for me doesn't end at bugs for me. UI, UX first person feeling, and even weird design choices like mouse wheel for analogic movements absolutely kill the experience for me.
