Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Every calculation/action you leave at game’s client is prone to be exploited by trainers/cheat programs.
What are you calculating by walking around, alone, on your own ship? Come on dude, not that complicated. No interaction with anything or anyone, no movement in the game world where anyone else exists. Doesn't matter if they pos hack in the confines of their own ship when they're just going to get loaded into the last position they were in after zoning.

Just a temporary zone in lieu of a loading screen. No server needed. Client asks server zone into zone X server says yes/no, client loads.

No other game has the fidelity SC has. Like bartending NPCs. That may or may not work depending how fresh the server is, and may drop your drink instead of give it to you.

Or toilets that flush, with swirling water. And p00p physics. In space. Where there is no gravity to create the swirling effect.

Can't even make this stuff up 😅
That's good fidelity :D

You constantly need to calculate the boundaries so the character doesn't fall through the world.
"The World" in this case is the ship. Can't go outside because there is no outside. Boundaries are the ship. Which the client knows already. Obviously can't do anything that needs server interaction like crafting, which SC doesn't have in any case.

calculations are game dependant… by walking you are interacting, at a minimum, with the grid under your character’s feet… with the environment around your character… does the game have simulated atmosphere… did you shoot yourself in the foot of your space suit? the server needs to know what you are doing…

edit: it doesn’t matter that you are alone in cave or your ship… if the game allows movement/interaction during the “jump” then the server needs to track you… unless a static load screen is used which I think is not the goal of SC

Not sure if not understanding or not. In the imaginary scenario of an interactive loading screen in the form of a temporary zone, there is no need to talk to a server. You can't die. Or shoot yourself or anyone else. Shooting is just an animation, does nothing. It's literally a loading screen with some walking around so you don't get bored.

Can't even enter, exit vehicles should you have them on board. Or blow up the ship which should be disabled in the zone. No dice games. No bartenders. No physics. No atmosphere. No physicalised mambo jumbo.

All fake, in other words. Like current SC, but less glitchy.

This, only inside the ship:

Nah, you were the one talking about lies. I was just replying to this bit:

It does ¯\(ツ)/¯

More broadly I was just poking fun at the import with which each new buzzword tech is imbued. By CIG, and by yourself.

Cases in point:

  • BuildingBlocks being the platform for new mission variants and the increasingly speedy industrialisation of content rollouts such as planetary systems. When it’s just an internal tool for generating UI. (PS I notice they’re still using Scaleform alongside it, the dated Flash tool it was supposed to replace. Ouch.)
  • iCache being the gateway to server meshing. Perpetually. For years. (When it’s just a fricking API)

For someone who doesn’t see these things as magic techs, you’ve certainly talked them up as such in the thread...

Littleant be sus. No offence. 🙄

Oh yes, if i saw someone wearing an invicticus SC t-shirt i'd totally be running up to them... and shouting "sucker"
Or "hey I assume you have some money to waste, want a bridge?"

Oh my, knew about the case but not this :ROFLMAO: :
