I haven't been able to get into the game alpha game all day. I either 30K a second after joining a server, or the game just sits at the loading screen. On the plus side, I've never had better framerates.
Those pesky Sandwurms! Been in the game since 2016.
Mojang is the studio behind Minecraft. Not a clue who or what Mojang are/is, or what on earth they/it has to do with folk who occasionally play or stream Star Citizen![]()
a) I have said openly and clearly, you're correct and I am wrong; to keep pushing for more is again just some strange point scoring and validation argument. There's not much more past "you are right and I am wrong, I forgot about them" that can be phrased any better
b) if you WANT (and clearly for some reason you do) to argue semantics that door swings both ways, you can't "share missions in ED", you can "share wing missions in ED". They are limited in scope, limited in type, limited in availability, limited in imagination, limited in game mode (good luck in multicrew, Odyssey); changing "you can't share missions" to "you can't share missions other than wing missions" changes nothing about the point but I can see why if you have nothing to add you'd keep pushing that semantic point if all you wanted to do was score points or troll
The first time my friend played SC with me, he managed to kill me. It made us both laugh so hard we had to stop for a few mins. Then we spent 2 hours trying (and working out how) to clear his name, hacking the computer on the station fighting off several PVP bounty hunters while he processed his name at the computer and I fought them off; we managed to get out and back onto his ship via the cargo bay where we forgot to close the door while we patted each other on the backs; a bounty hunter got onto his ship and it all got a bit crazy after that.
I don't think I have any story from ED that can match that.
SC is clearly something people like or don't (or feel scammed over). Myself though, I got at least half my £40 back in the entertainment from the above moment alone.
Enjoy the game as it is, or don't play it, take a break from it.
The game is continuously developed, it will grow over time and perhaps eventually evolve into something more complete.
The advice i would give to anyone looking at SC now is you don't need to spend more than the base package, everything is earned in game, and only buy in to it if you like how it is now, not what might be, do that later if or when what might be is.
If one does that one has nothing to complain about, if a person spent $1000 now for something that might be, because of very polished videos then frankly that person only has themselves to blame.
You wouldn't buy a brand of toothpaste because some woman dressed as a dentist pealing her lips over her gums grinning at you like a deranged Cheshire Cat says it the only brand she trusts? So don't spend $1000 on on something you're promised later on. At least not unless you know and understand it might all come to nothing.
I haven't played SC in live at least for about 6 weeks, i haven't played EDO for about a week either, right now i'm playing Rust, i'll check back in on EDO when its less annoying and SC when there is more to do.
D2EA has been playing for over a year.

And youre posting pvp players complaining about desynch. The desynch doesn't really affect PVE players (maybe it does in on foot fps missions, thats one thing I dont really do).
But for SC, you have a clear label on the bottle that it's still poison (alpha) where FDEV put a "maple syrup" on it (released). The taste of the syrup is quite surprising for someIt may be that for some people they find SC to better than Odyssey, they get more enjoyment out of it, but both are bug ridden unoptmized messes.
Its basically a case of choose your poison.

Speaking for myself and a lot of people I know.It only appears to be in SC land people are prepared to accept an eternal alpha while throwing more and more money at the devs for non-delivery.
And the EDO release fiasco also confirms to a lot of backers that they were right to give money to CIG. After the no VR, no ship interior, no new gen console (because, I'm sure at 95%, FDEV doesn't want to switch to last gen API DX12/Vulkan) announced, also a lot of ED players start to understand that the company that will deliver in the future will be CIG and not FDEV.Like, I just don't even know what to say at this point. I joined this game not knowing what to expect. I came from Elite because Odyssey sucks, and the game just feels incredibly dead and artifical after you play it for a bit. What happened this morning may seem like nbd, but for someone who just had his mind blown in a way that Elite never did, it's huge to me. I am sold on Star Citizen, this game has so much potential and I can't wit to see where it goes. Source
After pouring thousand of hours in a game, the "sunk cost fallacy" hit at max for a lot of ED players. It's not possible to find better elsewhere ! I will not abandon my game after all those hours invested for a blatant tech demo with fake ships... It doesn't help to understand what's going on now.People demonstrate "a greater tendency to continue an endeavor once an investment in money, effort, or time has been made."
It effects us carebears too you know...we can't dodge the bulletsD2EA has been playing for over a year.

I like misguided optimism...added with a touch of misguided loyalty and misplaced trust, it sums up how I view your outlook and comments on Ci¬G and Star Citizen. I'm not suggesting it's wrong, I can remember when I felt like that tooSpeaking for myself and a lot of people I know.
CIG is the only company trying to deliver (and already delivering some parts of) what I want in a space game : beautiful visuals in space and on planets with weather, no loading, ship interior, EVA, a leg first universe and FPS. So no choice if you want all of that. And the funding will not dry up as the alpha is more and more enjoyable patch after patch. The more CIG is funded, the more the alpha deliver. It's only in your mind that you don't see delivery, and a lot of recent ED players switching to SC sudenly realise that. They try the SC alpha because of EDO, thinking they will only find jpg/no gameplay/crash every 5 min after reading tread like this one and have a blast.

You love to talk about sunk cost fallacy here, but always talk about the cost in money, never the cost in time.

Mojang was / is Minecraft dev. Persson sold it to Microsoft. Are you genuinely just running out of relevant comments...or is this just another recent addition to your exhaustive list of completely random internet scams you've freshly uncovered? You really should try playing some games occasionally since I'm sure the constant search for anything at all, vaguely or not, related to Ci¬G or Star Citizen must be very tiring. You seem to be fixated on folk leaving any game currently being played to try out Star Citizen then making videos about it...I also have no idea why this is in any way important to you...

My trust is not misplaced. Since I play games, I always wanted a space game with (quoted from my last post) beautiful visuals in space and on planets with weather, ship interior, EVA, a leg first universe and FPS. That's exactly what I have in the alpha now. It's not about trust anymore for those elements, I just see it, play it and enjoy it. And as CIG is constantly adding elements I greatly enjoy to the alpha (caves, new biomes, boarding missions, derelict missions...), I don't see in a near future why I should not trust CIG anymore.I like misguided optimism...added with a touch of misguided loyalty and misplaced trust, it sums up how I view your outlook and comments on Ci¬G and Star Citizen. There are between 2 and 4 freefly events by year, you just have missed the last one. I cant' find a newsletter to subscribe to in the official website. Perhaps subscribe on a gaming news site that have a dedicated news channel for SC.Sorry to break the gently flowing argument, but when's the next free to play? Is there any way to get notified? I think I'd like to try it...
Because CIG lied to us multiple times in a way it would make them go out of business under any sane publisher? Only because they can? Because a hostage fanbase cannot be bothered to exercise any kind of coordinated accountability measures that a publisher otherwise would? My trust is not misplaced. One of these developers has a ghost in hells chance of getting out of the alpha state. But for SC, you have a clear label on the bottle that it's still poison (alpha) where FDEV put a "maple syrup" on it (released). The taste of the syrup is quite surprising for some![]()
So where should I go if I want my daily dose of beautiful visuals in space and on planets with weather, ship interior, EVA, a leg first universe and FPS ? Which game can I play now for this experience ? Or which company can I trust for it now ?The fact that you enjoy SC in its current state is not mutually exclusive with SC being a complete failure on the project management and delivery level. If you are happy with a wonky, unstable arena shooter, great.
The loud parts (because I don't have a clue what the silent parts are like) of the ED/SC communities are not space game fans though. They're hardcore tribal single-game fundamentalists, and though they define themselves as "space game fans", they define "space game" as per the list of features (as of latest patch) of the one game they play. So you start with first-person-space-trading-mining-combat-with-space-ww2-dogfights-and-loud-explosions-in-space, then you add stuff. If you miss one feature, sorry, your game isn't really a space game, and it's boring anyway. Who can play a space game without a bartender serving virtual drinks or less than 2 billion star systems? What's even the point? Anything not in the feature list is at best an inconsequential nice-to-have (ex: orbital mechanics or functional multiplayer). Until it's implemented of course, then it gets promoted to the first category. Its almost as though space game fans might be interested in multiple space games :O
