Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Thanks Mole and other testers!

Sad news but not too surprising at this point! Yes I have set the joystick slider to something else (or left it blank, can't remember exactly as I've tried both). That doesn't make any difference either sadly.

Off too work now so more later!

Thanks SO MUCH! For your help! You really are a Star! 🤩😘
As things stand, it's looking like there is a USB device problem as the Hotas works fine from the Joy.cpl / Windows point of view. But when I try to use the Target software the throttle is visible but no inputs are being read from it (no response from Target software for the throttle, only the Joystick).

Anyone have any Bright Ideas for next steps please?

 🤦‍♀️

Pigs Cows fly.

Unfortunately (for CIG), a decent game when you've just spent over a decade raising 400M+ USD and have become the most well funded game company ever just isn't going to cut it.

With heavy funding and big promises come big expectations. Like delivering on the gameplay of the ships you've already sold but haven't made, or finished gameplay for. Not even that "big" an expectation to get what you paid for but the absolute minimum expected.

That there is a decent game underneath all the bugs and crud is such a low bar for a 400M game it's just.. a bit pathetic really.

400M USD. Decent game. Like wut?

Flip that on its head and ask yourself if the general public would see CIG in a favourable light if SC were released today, as is, and CIG went "that's all folks". Would the consumer protection agencies not rightly be all up their bums asking where is the DLC people pre-ordered? Would those buyers not insist on refunds for the goods they did not get?

Followed by uncomfortable to CIG questions such as "where has all the money gone?"
Have I suddenly been reborn as an accountant? I don't really care about the in depth analysis of someone elses business accounts...that's work. I fly pixel spaceships for occasional fun and frolics on t'interweb is all, I generally leave the entirely boring business of counting pennies to the nice bloke I pay to care about such things...and to make sure my cows don't go hungry because I've bought another tractor 🤷‍♂️

Less than 20 hours to get to a Titan.
20 hours if you're extremely, extremely lucky and don't crash, get ganked or have server issues.

Even so, 20 hours of the same repetitive gameplay (and hey some people enjoy that) to upgrade out of a starter ship just isn't for me. Especially since the content you can do in the starter ship has largely remained the same since 3.2.

Cool, let's not discuss hypothetical situations then. 😅

If SC ever releases, it can then be judged.

Odds of that are not looking good when even the most pessimistic estimates for delivery by the most ardent detractor have proven to be wildly optimistic, however.
Don't know about you but I'm already judging it while I'm playing...as much as it's mostly enjoyable, it's not looking too favourable for being released in my lifetime :D

All I'm saying is that too many folks who don't play just can't get past the well known fact that the idiot Roberts has made an entire career from telling porkies, taking credit for other folks work and surfing off into the sunset with other folks money. Those of us who do play mostly accept that he's full of shyte but can still play and enjoy Star Citizen despite it.

Despite my obvious dislike of the man and the management behind it all, I rarely if ever criticise Ci¬G devs...there's a lot of talented folks doing the impossible at Ci¬G translating the idiot savant's wild handwavium imaginings and making them a playable reality...and I respect them for doing what they do. Wouldn't be me fer sure.

Well said.

Not related, but I found this amusing. Dunno about y'all, but I've had enough biowaste delivery in Elite.

I really, really dislike caves in SC. Mostly because I've yet to actually manage to get into one to explore. Both times I've tried I've managed to kill myself at the entrance. Once because I fell off a ledge (fair), and once because I stepped into an almost transparent 2 foot deep puddle of water.

Shame, because I want to try out the hand mining tool, but this is ridiculous.

This form of mental self-control is something I would have expected only from some Indian gurus. You know, those guys who walk on fire with bare feet. You have my utmost respect for that! It may sound ironic, but it's completely serious. If only I could do that, I would probably be a happier person...
It's really not that difficult. Some can do the whole emotional investment thing and take it to extremes of course...but from my view, I can take all the negatives about Ci¬G on board, accept it but try out the project of my own violition whist separating and taking note all the deceit and mismanagement surrounding the project and still be able to think..."Hey, as a game... this isn't too bad at all."

Star Citizen has it's good bits, some of them very good...it also has it's bad bits, some of them very bad. But I rarely lump my feelings surrounding CR or Ci¬G's marketing strategies in with that...those are personal views and nothing to do with playing what is, at the end of the day, a fairly decent but massively incomplete game.

You don't need to enter caves to sample hand mining...you can use any ship scanner to find hand mineable deposits on the surface of any moon or planet. Hit tab to enter scan mode and when you ping (Left MB), look for little gem icons on your ship HUD...not the rock shaped icons, they're ship mineable deposits. Once you find the deposit, scan it using the right MB to identify it. Look for outcrops of hadanite or dolovine...

Just watch out for those cows growing wings! You might need to speak to your accountant about flight insurance!
