Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

As if no other gamers try to avoid spoils... I wonder how you follow and play your narratives solo games.
That's exactly what I do with the games I intend to play. For instance I know very little of CP2077 as I still wait for the big patch before buying it.
You know enough to know it needs a big patch :)

This goes to show you dont really know Elite all that well ;) . Elite systems are not random. Actually procedural generation is deterministic, the opposite of random. But that is by the by.

The breadth and depth of lore and narrative gameplay content in Elite is actually staggering, but of course there is no way FDEV can put a specific piece of narrative in each of the billions of systems in the galaxy.

There are tons of actual stories and lore narration directly embedded in the game in different and very specific systems and sectors of the galaxy (given the sheer 1:1 size of Elite, narration and lore related gameplay is often linked to galaxy sectors like the different Formidine rift abandoned settlement gameplay etc), with actual related exploration gameplay required to reach many of those, unlike SC which is mostly pretty much offline.

All the gameplay related to abandoned settlements in the Formidine Rift or the puzzles of the Zurara megaship in 2017 for example, or the finding (thanks to beacons around the bubble) of lore content at generation ships that started appearing around 2017-2018, or the Golconda in 2019, the location of Guardian sites, Jameson, or the more recent Azimuth Saga... And many other things that I probably forget to mention.

All these represent narrative and discovery gameplay that, through puzzles, leads to pieces of lore in the game that we would have not otherwise had access to. In these cases we do not really need to be the “first ones” either, each explorer can take his/her time, with more or less spoilers, to go through the clues in order to reach those lore and narrative treasures.
It is as good as random with the count of systems. I never encountered any lore besides the in game news. Then again I gave up on the grind before most of it went in. It wasnt enough to make me come back either. I'm not playing crappy hamsterwheelers to unlock some rando lore bit. As I heard even the Thargoid encounters are rabdom, lol.

desynch is fixed baby!!!!

;) i'm sure it'll be fixed in the next patch*

Refundians reading the monthly report finding stuff....

"A new yet-to-be-announced vehicle (that the team is excited to share) moved from whitebox to greybox."

"Another unannounced ship is deep into the greybox phase"

Yes, more new stuff for CIG to sell before its ready and before they finish other stuff that people already paid for.

I really don't understand how even the faithful backers aren't tired of this bull yet.

You have missed the original point of the discussion about Environmental story-telling. We were not talking about lore or narrative gameplay content (which I know is good in ED) but what a place or location tells you without having to read anything. For instance, you know workers are not treated well in Hurston just by getting out of your hab and looking around. And you know that the Hurston family doesn't care about the planet just by flying around the city. Are there some systems/places in ED that tell you something more than Thargoïds were there, some guys abandonned their place or had accident there just by looking without reading (genuine question) ?
Off the top of my head, and it has been a while since my Cmdr has been in populated space

Other than the Thargoid incursions and rescue and repair states you noted.

Anarchy controlled Star Ports have the classic "Rise up, Never Surrender" vs the Imperial Basking and Federal FNS#s and Green Alliance, Blue Federal, and Dark Grey Star Port detailing.

Ships coming and going from Anarchy Star Ports have pirate type livery

Hanger Bays have an Icon showing the start port type and Ring Cities Ring Cities have Super Power logos

System Security numbers at the star port for security level, and the four Super Power Allegiances have distinct livery on their system security ships and designation from Allied Police, Internal Security Service and Federal Service and their own Special Police forces (I forget the game term) with a distinct name, livery and ship kits.

Within a system Jurisdiction changes changing who you encounter within 1000 km of orbital star ports and 250km of surface star ports so you can "cross the boarder" even within a system

Super Power Based Star Port Ads, Super Power Based Star Port Traffic Control and Banners for Controlling Power Play Power.

Traffic Control also has a different greeting based on your rep with them making allied places feel different from factions you have upset.

They also have final comments based on controlling faction state.

Super Cruise traffic reflects system state as does signal sources so War state will see different traffic and comms chatter and signal sources than a system in famine

The Greeting in the Star Port Services menu, which is the controlling Faction,
Who greets you depends on your rep with the faction, each Faction government type has different ranks of representative, and will make comment based on the faction state current pending or pass

All of the above changes as Star Port change hands between factions and Factions change state to reflect the control of a system, the security, state of war and peace, and economic climate.

There could be more and I have not managed to land anywhere to disembark to see note if anything changes for the above in the social hubs

That isn't "story" telling neither.

I still find it strange that on the EU servers last night for Xeno...when the org guys did it...there was no desync. Sovapid's vid shows there is still plenty of it about, I'm assuming he was on the US servers.

Some of the best server lag free games I've ever had were on the Aussie servers 🤷‍♂️

Mike just gave some sort of "deadline" for SC to improve things. Missed the actual statement.

A minute or two later he dies from desync.

Now he's ranting about lack of content in SC.

This is good kek.

Edit: LOL, now he's just crashed to desktop while he was ranting at someone for being negative.

It just keeps getting funnier and funnier.

Reloaded - wants to start somewhere other than Crusader. Game won't let him choose an alternate start point.
