Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Here's one that I for sure remembered:

There was another guy who obviously hated the game, was horrible at it, and couldnt stop playing it fast enough over his set time was over. It was hysterical.

So, being sponsored, does that mean FD give them money? Or is it just free promotion, like "Guys, we think this guy is good, watch him?"

Because basically advertising certain streamers is more or less ok in my opinion. Giving cash to stream is bad in my books. So, its not like i'm holding double standards here. If FD have done that, then its bad in my books, same as with CIG. Its just i've never heard before of FD gifting players money or things with monetary value.

So, again, does sponsored mean FD directly gifted the sponsored person money or ARX or equivalent?

Lol, oh my you are a boomer. "sponsored" means the streamer is being paid money.

It is not a bad thing. It is a fact of life in video game marketing at this point.

They put sponsored (will also see streamers using the #ad tag) in the stream titles, tweets etc because the FTC (federal trade commission) in the US requires by law some sort of disclosure that the streamer/influencer is being paid.

I feel completely the opposite.

Same here, indeed. Not sure individual anecdotal personal likes/dislikes, such as Kate´s (or ours for that matter), are conclusive of much to be honest. Doubly so when the opinion probably needs to align with a new source of clicks, so 🤷‍♂️ meh? In my case I think SC is indeed an actual stripped down and very unstable version of pretty much any space sim out there not just Elite, on top of being sold based on full on continuous misrepresentations.

Maybe I should start a Youtube series entitled "A Star Citizen citizen plays Elite Dangerous" or "A Star Citizen citizen plays No Man´s Sky". Although 6 years after I played SC in any detailed manner, sadly due to the above, except some new updates checks here and there, I suspect that title may probably not get as many easy clicks.

At any rate I can assure you that after playing Elite, Star Wars Squadrons, or NMS for example it has been really hard for me aswell to come back to SC.

I very much doubt that Katie was gifted anything from Ci¬G...she was certainly gifted at least one ship (Cutty Black) from another backer as far as I recall, but received mostly gifts of aUEC, some from fellow Skunkworks pilots who already played SC, some from random folks she met along the way, she mentioned it a few times in her video series.

That in itself isn't unusual in the slightest...either gifts of huge amounts of aUEC to buy ships in game...which is the most common...or by being gifted ship CCU's or actual ships from other backers. I've done both myself for friends who already played SC but that's strictly a personal thing, especially the gifting of actual paid for ships. In game aUEC is another matter, I've gifted tens of millions of aUEC since 3.8...a good bit of that to complete randoms, my attitude has always been that it's only there until the next wipe anyway.

Having the agency to do that as a player, for me, is a good thing, especially for org mates to transfer credits or get out of jail merits between eachother if and when needed. Sometimes a million or so aUEC from a mate to help an in game ship purchase is a big help. :)

Maybe I should do a series of vids too, I'm sure the one subscriber on my YouTube channel would shovel me some cash :)

This is one thing i always spoke out against in ED when people started asking for the ability to directly transfer credits. I understand it can be of benefit to the game, but it also brings in the gold farmers and chat spammers and chat bots.

Its a double-edged sword.

I think you've been hanging out with the SC loonies too long if you're going for insults to make your point.

If they are indeed being directly paid, then i'm absoloutely against it and that is effectively making shills, so in this case, we have CIG being bad and FD being bad (in my books).

Looks like you will be having a hard time finding video games to play if you stick to your convictions....

Eve sponsors videos too!
