Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

SC does have some advantages - the single system means you are way more likely to see others, and the small number of mission targets also increases the chance of meetings. The graphics on planets look very nice to me. EVAs and ship interiors do make for a more seamless experience.

If they could just get all that working with less 'random deaths because someone walks past you' then it would be a good basis to work off - maybe add another 2-3 systems so that you don't spread people out too much, and increase the frame rate and call it done.

ofc that's not what people were promised, so ...

Just lol ! Start to get rid of the items also presents in SC (a lot) and the items that are not activities before making your list. You seem to do not have a good glimpse of the variety of missions in SC...

platform gameplay on foot
counter missions on the fly
multiplayer mining in one ship
anti air combat on foot
giving money to other players
giving weapons and objects to others players
Air to ground bombing
If you crossed out these items, you really don't know SC...

You seem to have missed some activities you can do in SC but not in ED :

mining on foot
mining in eva
hacking in eva
platform gameplay on foot
counter missions on the fly
fighting inside ship
multiplayer mining in one ship
stealing ship and vehicle
boarding ship and vehicle
hiding in ship
picking fruits/plants
parking physically in ship
anti air combat on foot
exploring derelict interiors
exploring gigantic caves
manipulate cargo on foot by hand
manipulate cargo on foot with antigrav gun
moving with antigrav gun in EVA
physical injury and medical gameplay on foot
eating, drinking, sitting, laying, prone
intoxication effects
piloting a variety of ground vehicles
transport of others players ground vehicles
giving money to other players
giving weapons and objects to others players
Air to ground bombing

And I'm sure I've missed some others

I cannot believe you are actually pulling the 'My uncle is bigger than your uncle!' card.

Because for you "no Pay2Win" is an activity in game ? Or SC has no assassination missions or asteroid station ?
Come back with a real list of things that are really not in SC...

I crossed them out because they're present in Elite Dangerous too, therefore both games, as I already stated. It's best to read posts that you're replying to, and understand games that you're comparing.

LA seems to be attempting the Crocodile Dundee scene, but hasn't realised they're not in the Dundee role :)

Pay2Win is certainly an activity (paying cash to skip gameplay/progression), as is "no Pay2Win" (not skipping gameplay/progression). I already removed assassination missions from my list because both games have them. And yes, SC doesn't have asteroid stations (you may recall Lagski and its asteroid were removed from the game to free up server resources). I thought you played SC?

I've crossed out the items that CMDRs can already do in Elite Dangerous - you should play more games so that you know these things. I mean, you're literally on Frontier's forums constantly stanning for a non-Frontier space game and you obviously haven't even played Frontier's own space game.

As to the list you asked for, you could just check my previous posts on the matter, but here you go anyway (just like your post my list also includes unnecessary duplication of very similar items to pad out the list):

LOL, exactly the sort of list you can make when you break everything down into trivial details, and yeah, i'm sure you could go on and on and on with the list.

You could go further. For example, you put "settlement reactivation missions" but you can also reactivate without a mission.

So:

Settlement reactivation
Settlement reactivation missions

Two points for the price of one!

Got to really break them down if you want to compete with the faithful!

Grimhex.

What you call variations are not variations. There are really important from a gameplay perspective.
For instance, you absolutly not mine the same way on foot, in a Rock or in a ship. They are 3 differents gameplays.

I completly accept that Core/Subsurface mining is an activity SC doesn't have. The other points are present in SC.
I wait for the rest of your list to see if really ED has more activities than SC.

No no, i was just making a list and breaking it down the same way you broke yours down. I wasn't particularly saying what is in ED that isn't in SC. Stuart's included a lot of stuff like that in his list though.

But i have no idea how you can have a straight face with that variations guff. So, you're saying the small differences are only important for SC, but not for ED?

The 4 modes of mining space rocks in ED are all quite different, but you don't want to acknowledge that?

  • With Fire / Without fires
  • With Scavenger / Without Scavengers
  • Using Stealth / Kill them all / Run from them
  • In a team / alone
  • Or the 'retrieve data from abandoned settlement' version
  • include Looting / Not Looting

No anti-grav gun though, so I guess none of it counts :)

Good try but all variations in SC too...

We know - you listed them - about 20 wasn't it - for the game? I was just listing them for one mission type. ED has many ;)

Seriously - don't go up against a game known as 'mile wide inch deep' with an argument 'but SC is wider'. Stick to the immersion case - at least you have an argument on that one. Not sure if you will win, but at least you won't be laughed out of the room.
