I just read through that page, and it is just... bizarre.

Plenty more where that came from, eg. "Chris Roberts (lore). Character in Star Citizen".
(Barf bags at the ready)

Edit: I mean the guy deserves to be worshipped. It's all there, written into the lore, like, "He looked for innovators from a variety of disciplines to join his team in an attempt to alleviate the overpopulation problem on Earth."

Im not comparing, at all. My point is that to a large extent what players are wanting, and what these games are trying to achieve, is similar. Not fully in scope, but I mean in general...they both want to have as many players as possible doing as much game stuff as possible. Many games want that. But one of them has made something working/workable and the other is still in a dream state. As reality hits the SC dream, they will remove stuff, change how things are acheived, and making it workable...and those aspects will be end up being more and more like EDO. My underlying point being EDO is as good as it gets. Dont like that? Too bad.

This is just a prediction for the next 20-40 years, I guess.

If you're not interested in a true MP experience and extremely detailed AAA graphics, full and fully usable live-in ship interiors independently of what the ship is doing, properly populated planets with weather and biom systems.....if you ignore that, yeah if you're really not interested at all EDO is as good as it gets.

Guys, you're going to make me post more cat media?

Just my opinion, YMMV...
SC "Lore" is insufferable; a homage to one person's vanity and narcissism. Just spend 1 minute here. It honestly baffles me why some see him as a demi-god.

"Learn from the past, Reach for the future, Fuel innovation, Cultivate talent, Always be relevant"

Something CR has consistently failed to do. For sure, after every time he messed up he wrote a letter or responded to a journalists questions saying things like "I wish someone had sat me down and told me to focus on just a few things", but as soon as he gets a new idea the lessons learned go right out of the window.

We're all interested in those aspects. As, I suspect, FDev is, as well, as CIG is too, of course. Im saying what SC has shown, is they have what looks nice but its not exactly working...to the extent they cant even finish their 1st system. Cant, not wont. So they'll remove things over the course of years, and it'll be eventually about as good, if they're lucky, as EDO...

Oh, and there's currently no incentive whatsoever for CR to release a game, as long as people pay stupid money for jpegs.

Stop, and it might be a game. It won't be the game you want, but it might be A game.

Maybe.

... all the while, releasing pictures and versions of the game in various states, but never able to release the full game as proposed. But somehow making stacks of bucks.

Cant tell if this is meant as a thumbs down or thumbs up to keep going....more cat tricks please!

If funding stopped the whole thing would go boom in a month or so. They have no real reserves. The money goes out as fast as the money comes in. So what you see now is what you'd get.

In the distant past Clobbers claimed to have enough to bankroll development if funding stopped. But that was most likely a lie as well.

Of course it was a lie. The whole thing's foundation is lies.

Since no-one has mentioned it...3.17 has been shoved to live with the same raft of bugs still unresolved from PTU. Gotta love the power of marketing over common sense :)

Half my store bought cosmetic ship paints are missing too, wonderful 😑

Well… this is going to make things… interesting for the free fly in about eight hours!

And here I thought I was joking about stuff being purchasable by $1000+ backers first…
It's only the limited paint job that's unique to concierge, the ship is on general sale during the free-fly...plus Ci¬G know that offering concierge backers first dibs on $100 of new shiny is generally where the initial market is.

Considering how much some concierge have spent, we get precious few perks compared to subscribers. As par for the course, subscribers have absolutely unique items including access to certain limited ships plus the subscriber exclusive cosmetic ship paints and armour :)

I'm interested in games that aren't self described as an alpha. When CIG have some confidence in their product(s) there's a possibility I might as well.

Ci¬G...rewriting the lore and redefining the gameplay in game to include real life marketing driven ship sales events 😐

Hey, at least Chris took AMD into the future with him…
