Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

All the "star citizen?" responses are like the little kid at the back jumping up and down with their hand in the air trying to get noticed.
I scrolled down through well over 100 responses to that post and saw Star Citizen mentioned only twice, which speaks volumes on it's own. My favourite out of the very few "What about SC?" responses...

I'm beginning to think Star Citizen exists to launder illegal drug money.

Star Citizen is always installed on its own.

You remove all other games on your SSD, spend 25 minutes waiting for the loading screen, then half an hour messing about trying to figure out what to do... and then spend the rest of your life on various forums insisting no other space games are relevant and talking about how great it will be when the expensive ships you bought are finally there and insisting that you have a new understanding of games development.

This is the way

I had to be quite persistent the 1st time, 2nd time wasn't as an ordeal.
I'll try it again if it ever gets released, if I haven't carked it by then.

If you open up some of the collapsed comments you'll find the usual sorts praising SC and the other usual sorts saying its rubbish. IIRC i made a joke in the thread about eternal alpha.

I continue to be staggered that people can keep showing these completely static NPCs that don't even shoot most of the time and say they will 'continue to play it'. Sure, I enjoy an occasional stuck CZ in Odyssey - but I enjoy it as an exception, not as the norm ...
On the occasionally empty-ish server, the npc's behaviour improves greatly and they actually respond to players... although they're still crippled by the ridiculously low server tick rate causing desync on the PvE side. Ci~G balanced the PvP desync side of things a bit but the PvE side suffered in spades for it...and not just for the Siege of Orison nonsense, it's prevalent throughout the entire game. It's got nothing at all to do with the lack of server meshing either...Ci~G simply need to fork out for better server architecture if they want to continue to run this thing as a live service.

I'd quite happily put 90% of current issues with Star Citizen down to utterly inadequate server and backend performance...from the killer elevators to falling out of ships, exploding ship ramps or morphing through the scenery 🤷‍♂️

I really didn't want to go there with the collapsed replies, it just opens up the full force of the reddit SC cesspit... I guessed there was going to be way too much input from both the Star Citizen Defence Force and their counterparts from the Extraordinary League of Star Citizen Refundians. I get way too much of that on here already without going digging for it on reddit by myself ;)

Aye, there is that too :D

In the world outside of Star Citizen, the two syllable phrase to answer the riddle of life, the universe and everything is forty-two...in Star Citizen land, the two syllable phrase that describes everything wrong with the development of the project is Chris Roberts :)
