Alongside other fun things, like loot boxes disappearing as you approach them etc etc.

This guy, who seemingly works in a related field, is somewhat sceptical about progress to date:

He has many more opinions...

LOL, guy is getting downvoted hard all over the place.

Last thing the faithful want to hear is how CIG are using bad coding practices, regardless of years over evidence that supports it.

Don't get me wrong, in development projects there is always this tendency to take shortcuts and not follow best practices. Deadlines, pragmatism, etc, all are factors, but the biggest and more complex the product, the more things can go wrong with each instance of bad practice, and SC is an insanely scoped product with so many interacting parts, even with the best practices and best management, you're going to have problems.

But the faithful seem to not want to accept this, that CIG are only using best practices, and that idiot Roberts and co are ensuring their teams are working to them.

Once again, i refer back to the statement from Roberts about how they intentionally give their devs unrealistic deadlines to motivate them. If that is your idea of project management, then god only knows what other stupid ideas you have.

Because you specifically just asked me about whether I really had experienced that with (give or take) 54 other players as I had asserted.

Also, I was just recounting my experiences in game of late. I'm not goalpost moving in any shape or form.
It was 110 players and how stable that was and next instance is suddenly just "50+" players and that's not goalposting. Sure.

1. I originally said I'm impressed with how relatively stable the servers have been of late considering they've been having 110 people of late on them.

2. You then suggested that they should meet in in location on the large map and have them shoot it out and see what happens.

3. I then said outside of Jumptown (by which I meant I'd seen very large numbers congested in one place) I'd been in a few rucks with 55ish people in them of late and it had been quite stable/good performance even on a less than ideal machine.

4. You then asked me if I'd had these 55 player battles in the recent build (which I wonder now based on the way you're taking this, was you accusing me of lying for some weird reason).

5. I confirmed this.

6. You then accused me of goalpost moving for answering your question.

Yes, I of course meant that 100+ players should meet and duke it out. You answered with the 50+ and I used 55 to confirm that you indeed intended to sell half the pop being just as good as the original 110.

It's a bonanza of sceptical devs...

So this apparent lead gameplay programmer (with experience of VR & AAA MMOs and such), is concerned. They think that a Take-Two/Kerbal style contract cancellation by the investors might occur. And so poison the crowd-funding well for others.

But I'm more interested in some stuff they've said in the past ;)

On interviewing a CIG Snr Gameplay Engineer and finding them wanting:

Some months ago a former lead developer from CIG applies a position to the company I am working. I was chosen by my CTO to make the first interview. I was amazed by how clueless a developer can be. The code example provided, the answer given to the questions.

Then I understand what's really wrong with SC. Most of the devs neither have clue nor experience to be able to create a flexible code system for a project as complex as SC.One of my questions was "What is the things you are considering while creating a base class". He did not even have a clue. For those who are not a coder, a base class is the core of a class. For example, you create a base class for a gun. Code everything to it. Aim using the mouse, fire, when pressed, left button, etc. Rest of the guns created by that base class. So you won't have to code the common features every single time.

The guy who cried when he saw the carracks current take on SC.

🤣

The sleepy village drums really complement the quiet rant 😊

"It's like a classic car show where all the classic cars are on fire. And everybody's kinda talking about the classic car, but kind of ignoring the fire."

"...Everybody's kind of busy talking about a new handle that they've bought for their roll up window, but the back seat's ablaze..."

I won't disagree with your assertion here, because i've seen videos of it happening, jankfest that it is, it happens.

One does have to wonder though, during organic play, how likely this is to happen, should, miraculously, CIG actually start adding multiple systems.
