Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

(DSmart was mostly salty that he didnt get that much money for his own broken promises lol).

Well to be fair they are not even the same game genre, and one is a turned based RPG the other is a 3d twitch shooter. We can still compare the competence of management in both cases, and how Larian released the GOAT RPG in 6 years with content so packed you can spend hours in each location and with unprecedented freedom of action. Oh and it's not their only release since CiG started SC and SQ42: in that time frame they also released 3 full games (also costly RPGs): Divinity Dragon Commander, Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2. So 4 full games, all of which have positive reviews, the last 2 of which are considered among the GOAT of the genre. Meanwhile CiG managed to squander a record amount of backer money and only produce a quicky patched together demo level that would not survive proper reviewing.

That's the thing. They use the "you can't compare them because they are different games" to avoid discussing the actual reason for comparing.

What, in general, is the motive to run several accounts? In my experience these kind of games are usually more work than leisure - so why compound that?

Well, in my case, it was multiple free fly accounts. Because when it wanted to try it again i couldn't log in with my previous account details, and when it tried to do a reset password it was like the account no longer existed, so I had to create another account.

If stats are real, how do they manage the costs? With 1200+ staff and all those locations they need at least 10-15 million per month to keep things running.

Exactly what I was asking the other day.

Yes. That is why some people like me are a bit concerned.

Me, too. VERY concerned.

The paradoxical thing is that the bigger they get, the slower development seems to go.

why do you think they are pushing subs as wave 1 for PTU...

The whole thing is being kept alive by people believing in the dream. If that belief dries up, so does the dream.

Buy an Idris. Buy several!

Probably need to circle all those bullet points - well, I guess the PU line is right :)
Come now, haven't you heard people say "Well, that's just rich!" and I think you can totally say so about SC and that's bullet point 1. "Bulette" on the other hand is a "meat ball", nothing to do with bullet points. Alternative would be "Frikadelle" - I seriously have no words how you can use something so ordinary like "meat ball" for what is basically a variant of the hamburger patty.

That is a nifty way of increasing account numbers in order to fake a bigger audience.

True, but it was only a few months wait from beta to release, a bit longer for those who go in on early beta. CIG are over 10 years doing an alpha. There is a difference.
Yeah, what is it exactly? That I would pay for an inferior, unfinished version when I should actually BE PAID for testing it? Nope, that seems to be the same. I don't see a difference - it's both a rip-off.

I've stepped out of the loop for a while. Is Star Citizen released yet? Or at least in Beta?
I noticed it's almost $600,000,000 on the funding counter.
