Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

My point was Nick Cage Superman has a better probability of release than Star Citizen...

Congratulations you have viewed this image which shows use and enjoyment of the Film and rebuts the false allegation that the Film has not been released.

A Chris Roberts movie

Have you noticed how space Vandals were (not) surprisingly similar to the WC movie version of the Kilrathi? On the other hand, out of all the absurdity of the movie, the space bulldozer part is not the most uncanny one. It is what happens right before it. We are in space, FGS, you don't need to approach the carrier at full speed only to crash into it. Just slow down.

Yeah it seem bizarre that would use landing friction to slow down the fighters when they are in space with no gravity and, effectively, no friction, you hit the deck at an angle, you bounce away at the exact reflection of the angle, the fighter should have ended up bouncing into the roof of the landing bay.

What I find intersting is the graph of player numbers they're expecting (6:58). Very optimistic and unrealistic considering there's a buy in cost. If that graph continues for ten years we'd be reaching levels of a small country's population. Freefly only last so long and the dips in player number should at least hint what ever state Star Citizen is in right now, its not ready to go public.,With all the missions they acrued they should have spared a few to hire internal testers.

edit: added time on video

What graph of player numbers they (who?) are expecting?

The comments about CIG focusing on SQ42 for release next year and then Star Citizen development will ramp up is the most depressing thing on there. Considering the two games are linked and supposed to use the same mechanics, if it doesn't exist or work properly in Star Citizen there's no chance it'll be done in SQ42 and vise versa, if SQ42 is moving along and a year away from release, those development would transfer over to SC in the form of complete game mechanics. They can't even get NPC animation to work right in SC, how is SQ42 anywhere near finished?

In the end its always 2 more years.

Have you seen the physics engine in SC :) CRoberts has a very special idea about space physics and even atmo flight model...

Not sure who 'they' is I assume CIG, it's 6:58 in the video.
That's just Morph making stuff up. He's also failed to understand that 'the area under the line = the number of testing hours' - so the area under the line won't change much between before & after this change - it's just being pushed around on the time axis. Morph's line shows magically more hours of testing taking place - umm, nope.

The easiest way CiG could have evened out the load is just provision fewer servers and let there be login queues (as they have in the PU when a patch goes live). ppl would complain, but nothing like they are now 🤷‍♀️

But not to worry, someone shared the Leaks Discord take on the outsourcing thing...

  • SQ42 nearly done...
  • SQ42 Ep2 up next...
  • Lots of outsourcing planned for the PU
  • That's supposedly the Pegasus being worked on in China

(Have a bonus random fan claim on a Chinese fan site regarding the Pegasus. No idea if that's their source or what ;))

Why bother, they've already sold the 'Panther' for Episode 2 😁

The RSI Pegasus-class Escort Carrier is the Empire's premier small carrier, capable of supporting the operations of up to 32 starfighters far from friendly supply.[1] Typically it will accommodate 16 Hornets and 16 Gladiators, but the fighter groups can be tailored as missions demand. In addition to the fighters, there are also two Argo Utility Ships on-board. If needed, two Retaliators can be held in underslung positions.[2]

Originally named the Panther, The Pegasus was part of the $15 million stretch goal, which was reached prior to August 1, 2013. The ship concept was designed by Ryan Church (Freelance Conceptist). It was being developed by Foundry 42 and was last said to be in the white-boxing phase on December 2014.[1] It was to be featured in the second installment of Squadron 42.[3]

Take that ED ;)
