Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I don't think this is a troll...

But it really should be!

Comment:

Good summation, IMO.

Most all of those expectations from early-on were based on what they were told (and sold). The hard cold fact is that "old money" got the ball rolling, but as the older backers started to see that much of what they were told (and sold) just wasn't happening....wallets often closed...and CIG started looking to new money.

New money started rolling in, and what had been the "vision" started to decay even further. The "new money" did not share the same old vision for the game, so the vision was changed.

Money talks. A lot of people closed their wallets as CIG wasn't delivering what had been expected/discussed/promised. So CIG shifted to the desires of the "new money". That's just business. And it's not new for SC. The wishes of the "old money" (who often spent thousands on the game to support what they had been told/sold) started to be replaced by the masses with $45 very early on. It's an odd situation (and in some ways quite sad), but not unexpected. Every time a wallet slams/slammed shut, a hundred more open. If only for $45...

So yes, the very vision has become divisive. Because it changes....CIG even admits that it has in fact changed.

The scope was and is massive. But it's clearly in flux....

It's sad in a way. Early backers believed in the project based on what they were told/promised. They often did so on unimaginable scale. The sad part is that those early promises sold were often the first things to fall as time went on. The "smart" money waited (and the even "smarter" money will continue to wait in the wallet).

So, CIG sold one thing then started delivering another to get more money, then they started delivering another thing to get more money, rinse and repeat....

Hmm... i'm pretty sure there's a word for this... on the tip of my tongue.... starts with "sca", ends in "m".
