Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Its like the ED screenshot thread. Looks nice, but what about the gameplay.
Yes, this is factual...

So, in order not to offend any other contributors to the thread, I present my latest SC story in pictures...

I waited in a queue for a while, it was excruciatingly exciting!

Then I went to the lift and had some amazing sideways writing scrolling across the button!

The lift didn't kill me, but I couldn't handle the elation, and anticipation of another long trek to try to find my ship, so I exited the game and played someting engaging.

So ends today's amazing SC experience, I'll try to play again in December probably.

Its the context. Its like the ED screenshot thread. Looks nice, but what about the gameplay. The screenshots often posted here are often done with the intent of showing what an amazing game SC is, rather than the buggy limited inch wide, inch deep game it really is.
Yeah, because no-one here ever mentions that. Well, hardly ever.

Someone putting screenshots of Star Citizen in the Star Citizen thread. The affrontery of it all.
Why isn't it on Mac is what I want to know.

As i think I've mentioned quite a few times before, I have a $35 Star Citizen package from 2012 which I have never utilized. Waiting for 1.0 and all that. I can only cope with one disappointing space game at a time :)
Whereas you never disappoint.

There’s certainly nothing wrong in using the imagination to fill the gaps, I used to make believe a tape cassette was the cobra mk3 back in 80’s!

And it’s fair that some people enjoy arranging their hangars in SC for pretty photos, but I think the issue is more for me that roberts has lied and embezzled and still not released something that I’d like to play.
Edit; whilst on this thought, I wonder if it’s a morality and ethical divide between those that dislike cig and those that can ignore these ethical questions and don’t care.
It’s probably along a spectrum for when the line is crossed- some people hunt Bambi for sport don’t they?

I think it is definitely a big part of this whole thing. I personally separate my opinion of Star Citizen as a (non)product and CIG as a developer.

I probably would have better opinion of the game, if the developer behaved in a more ethical way. Everyone's line lies elsewhere of course. To me personally, CIG keeps finding new lows when it comes to treating both their customers and employees. I have no emotional attachment whatsoever, as I have never played Wing Commander for example, so never had "Visionary Chris Roberts" image in my mind.

To me SC is just a broken 13-year old alpha made by a dev that has some truly horrible (IMO) people at the helm.

I do love the concept of it, big fan of immershun the way they want to do it. If they weren't so horribly greedy, manipulative and predatory - and if they showed to their customers they can actually manage the project well - I would happily throw money at them to help them achieve that dream. I am not a rich person by any means, but I don't mind spending a pretty penny on a passion.

I spent quite a bit on Elite over the past 11 years and I can easily imagine myself spending the same, if not more on SC.

Alas, Greed Imperium Cloudiness and His Majesty Chris "I put myself as the saviour of the entire human race in my game" Roberts are behaving in a way that is 100% opposite to what my idea of an ethical business is.

Yeah, I know...

NMS showed such promise too 🤣
Yeah, SC truly is the odd one out here. Both NMS and Elite are frequently featured among the top games in most of the usual space game rankings out there etc. I.e. they are already respected classics at the end of their commercial careers, with all their good and bad stuff. Whether we personally enjoy them or not.

SC´s most notorious accolade on the other hand is, perhaps, the dubious merit of being the most broken, bugged, abusively monetized, mismanaged and wasted effort in game dev out there. Some even call it a scam.
