Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

CIG_ChadMcKinney
We've had physicalized elevators for a long time but we actually introduced teleporting variants to solve an issue about not always wanting to build out the areas to support them as they can get very far away from the destinations, with most of it being not very interesting or notable areas along the way (or would take art time to make them notable or interesting, but maybe not the best usage of that art time). As far as when to use the teleporting vs. physical variants? Ultimately that's up to the landing zone teams and I don't want to speak on their behalf for the reason for the current distribution or what it might look like in the future.

That doesn't sound very flidelitious Chris! Imagine that, abstracting something away or taking short cuts.

Surely the backers are up in arms about this terrible betrayal about their hopes and dreams!

I mean, do i really even need to look to see backers saying his this is actually good for Star Citizen?

A quote from that Steam SWS thread that @Agony_Aunt referred to. It's not just the skeptics here who see it that way.

One small step for CIG, one giant leap for loading screens.

Has anyone noticed, wont take much bending and twisting to accept them now....after all, every game has loading screens but none have ever done teleportation before!

Interesting exchange on one of those AA links, after people said CR didnt promise anything, he just said it would be released next year at multiple citcons or events since 2015.:

A - I'm not native English speaking, so help me out here: As long as you do not use the word "promise" words are meaningless in your culture?

B - I don't see your point. If someone has a plan, that plan can change. That's can happen to the best plans and is to be expected. If someone promises something that should not change, or that promise is broken. That's a bad thing. So words ARE meaningful, especially the word "promise". And stating CIG promised something when they did not is a lie... that's a bad thing, too.

BTW, I'm German, so not a natural English speaker as well...

A - You know.

In 2016, "answer the call", I, stupid me, bought a flight stick and pedals.

I have unboxed them last friday, to play Star Wars Squadrons.

Meaning, words matters, they do have an impact (on stupid people like me).

B - Yep, that WAS a promise IMO. And it was broken. And it wasn't a good thing. But IMO they learned from that and that's one of the reasons they don't answer "when" questions anymore. I'm sure if they announce a release date for SQ42 in the future, that date is set in stone.

Every cloud, at least they got to use their pedals, but imagine that.

Secondly, Player B defines broken promises as 'bad' and then when accepting CR had broken promises that this was 'wasnt good'. Nice change of emphasis, just cant bring themselves to hold CIG & CR to the same level of accountability they hold the rest of the world to.

Interestingly the take away from it all is that CR did promise and broke promise, and the lesson learned was, dont make any more promises :) And thats fine with fans coz broken promises would only be used by FUDsters, so no promises, no game means no broken promises, but no ammo for the FUDsters so thats all fine.

It is turning though, the 1st post 'Dear CIG', I tip my hat to that OP, they held their own in a 2nd language and argued very clearly and to the point always and that entire thread only has 2 or 3 fanboys defending it....people are waking up to the fact they have been CitCONNED year after year and the dreams videos arent going to do it anymore...

Loading screens have been in for a while now:

Yeah, guy did well.

If i tell my boss "Ill do it today" then don't, i'm sure he will be totally understanding if when asked I say to him "I didn't promise it".

He's probably just say "Oh Agony, you got me good! So when will it be ready?" and I'll say "Oh, tomorrow, for sure!" and I still didn't promise him it!

At the end of the day, i just planned to get it done, but plans change you know.

I hope they're not referring to Apollo 1.

(no disrespect to the brave astronauts who died in that disaster)
SC passed that milestone in 2015. The faithful call it "reboot".

If i tell my boss "Ill do it today" then don't, i'm sure he will be totally understanding if when asked I say to him "I didn't promise it".

NOOO!! You are doing it wrong! You should tell him "I plan to do it today", only then you can absolve yourself.

That is kinda toddler logic. You wish it isn't how it is and the wish will make it magically go away or happen, just as the toddler imagines.
