Daily dive into Spectrum...

One of Quaver's images incorporated. Comments are interesting. Reference to Sataball straight off the bat.

And...

Good riddance. I didn't pledge for ToW. I don't want resources being wasted on it. I pledged for SQ42 and SC. Focus resources on those products. ToW was just a carrot that has, as predicted, backfired on CIG. Chalk it up to another CIG management blunder.

And as usual, people reciting scripture

the main points of ToW were a quick, jump into action gameplay to enable:
  1. Testing/balancing of FPS weapons (and to a lesser degree, ship and their weapons)
  2. Testing of servers, the multiplayer netcode etc

And of course someone with direct quotes:

A lot of progress has been made! And it is awesome! Its not at the point we're ready to release yet but... soon...tm

Yes, its so awesome, but they just can't release it just yet. Now.. where did we hear that before? Oh yes, in 2014 in relation to SQ42.

And a terrible suggestion:

The last free fly i tried was abysmal being forced to spawn on a planet with the performance issues, finding your way around, the train rides, etc. Free fly is best served by starting people on space stations.

Reminds me of the CQC discord for ED. So few people play that your best chance comes from out of game meetings.

The wording seems to imply an apprentice level specialist though.

Not sure the level required is a factor in my statement? Many companies hire both veterans and entry levels in many different activities and projects that have been ongoing for some time.

So out of interest- as time goes on will the players of SC gravitate to the other game more, or will it be a case of staying with the ship? The other game is starting to eat SCs lunch...

When equally, it could be argued, that no tech or resourcing could realise the ambitions that the CEO is aiming for...

This is what I tend to think. They know it's impossible to release the game fully, so they work on aspects of it, put it in, try things out. But what you'll notice over time is that they never have a lot going on at once, because it's impossible. A solution would be to break it up into modules, in some way, but then that would be admitting defeat at those lofty prospects they've promised they can achieve. If CiG said they've found it impossible to do what they hoped to, and are changing their outlook, that'd be understandable.

Wen't to visit the "other games" section of Spectrum, wondering if they are talking about Odyssey, and they aren't at all apart from an old post about ED getting bartenders.

But did find this about Cyberpunk being delayed again... and they seem to be happy about it. I find this rather funny, since its not even the same genre. But there again, anything that looks bad is used to make SC look less bad.

Of course, someone spouts scripture...

Cyberpunk took 8 years to make(and it still has not been officially released) by a developer studio that had already been established and built. CIG started from CR's garage with less than 10 people back in 2012. He had to build a team and a game studio from the ground up, plus contest a lawsuit against cryteck and also switch game engines in the space of 8 years.

Having switched engines, they are now having to basically re-write the whole underlining tech of it(things like the network layer and now as this video states, the data layer/icache). My point is CIG neither too slow at development or faster than other gaming studio's
,

If in 4 years time, stuff like icache, server meshing, more than 2 start systems , salvaging, medical and engineering gameplay is not in, then it is valid to question there ability and whether they can finish this game.

Side note: they are working on two games....

Bolding mine. Ah, i remember how people were saying similar things years ago. I wonder whether those people shifted the goalposts or actually gave up on waiting.

Someone counters that horse manure with a lengthy post and part of it is...

Comparing CIG to CD Projekt does not place them in a very good light

Indeed.

Then they get into a long back and forth similar to what we recently had with LittleAnt.
