Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Maybe its for Chapter 12. You know how they are with spoilers, maybe it applies to their devs too and hires a whole new team for each chapter of the game just so noone gets a full view of the story.

I'm starting to think you work for Microsoft.
Meh, I do all the subscription services...EA play pro (annual sub), Ubisoft connect+, MS Gamepass ultimate, PlayStation plus (annual sub for the PS5)...they suit the way I like to play or try out a huge variety of games from different game studios and genres...works out a lot cheaper for me in the long run since adding all the subs together amounts to roughly the cost of one AAA game per month. If I only bought and played one or two games a year for instance, the subscription services might not be such good value in that case. 🤷‍♂️

I have a friend who's into the latest games. He usually get it within a few months of them coming out and I try them out there before I buy. I guess I'm lucky.

I'm getting too used to Star Citizen's "always 2 years away". After watching Starfield Direct I thought there's still a year or so before Starfield comes out. Just goes to show how easily people's view might get tainted by Star Citizen.

Just as an aside...if you really dislike giving Ubisoft the price of a game...Outlaws looks like it'll be another day one release on Gamepass Ultimate (TBC)...trading one corporate demon for another, I know...but still, the gamepass sub is way cheaper than buying the game... with the added benefit of having day one access to Starfield as well.

Sign up for $1 plus 5 months at $10 (as an example) is still $10 cheaper than buying any single game that you may or may not like after you buy it :)

I don't do subscriptions, ever.

More or less me, just a couple of games a year. I spend a lot of my gaming time going back and playing old games as well, so don't really have time to keep playing with all the new shiny games as well. And these days, most new games just don't tend to interest me. For example, there hasn't been a year where I haven't gone back and played a campaign or two in Medieval 2, which came out in.... 2006.... ouch.

I kept my EA play pro sub going partly to play through the Mass Effect legendary edition trilogy once again from the start...added bonuses in no particular order were Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor, Star Wars Squadrons, PGA golf, Dead Space remake, Crysis trilogy remastered, F1 2021-23, FIFA 15-23...plus many other games past, present and still to come, all with full DLC and season passes.

I certainly get my money's worth for the 90 quid annual sub :D

Countless hours played with that. The average TW battle is forgettable and dime a dozen, but there was one epic castle with a mountain overlook, just one vector of approach and some heavy macemen involved in the fight. French footknight? Some Scottish mercs? I don't fully remember, but they wore blue and it was a bright summer day.

Have you tried Third Age or Divide and Conquer? They added quite a few custom battle maps for castle and towns to those and some are really nasty. Dul Guldur IIRC has a long steep path up and only one entrance and a narrow ramp after that which a few spear units can hold for ages, and that's with your troops absoloutely knackered after climbing the hill.

I normally play with battle timer on (otherwise i can loose to many hours playing) and its always battles like that which make be regret not disabling it, because even with the superior army it can take ages to get the victory, especially if they have a full stack sat there.

How dare all these beatsly people compare Todd's 8-years in the making and not yet released real game, to the majesty of Crobber's geat vision, 11-years in the not yet out of alpha stage.

So. Let's start the fight-back by listing all the things in SC that won't be in Starfield:

1. Multiplayer.
2. Working lifts and ramps
2. Server Mashing. (Soon)
3. Other stuff that's on the to-do list (maybe)
4. Okay, point 3 doesn't count, but, it will do (possibly).
5. Yeah, okay, neither does point 2.
6. So, yeah. Multiplayer. Yeah!! You take that, fudsters!!

Does this "Starfield" game have webcam face-tech? No...check and mate.

Sorry, I'm PESimistic about all that. The reveal showed SF filled with Schrott so it's done before the real gamers get to try Schrott Cities in SC. At least the true gamers can amuse themselves with corpses which is also good fun.

Hey just in case you star citizen backers are feeling a vortex of impulse spending that's about to implode.. why don't you get one of these maybe the headset, and hug it to sleep. Its spectacular.. and works for pc.

I don't usually go for the limited controllers.. turns out its much cheaper to buy a black one and buy a custom case online.. but this is just next level. The most amazing souvenier / microtransaction for a space game out there!

But.. really.. just get on of these, will be where you're at soon :)

Chris promised us custom SC controllers back in 2015 and he always keeps his word.

Are these mods? I never tried mods with medieval 2. I used to edit the tables a bit myself.
