It doesn't quite work like that...not that I'm defending P2W or anything, but having a fleet of bling barges doesn't necessarily mean you won't be exploded by randoms flying starter package ships on day one. This urban myth that those who've spend more money on the dumpster fire will benefit more in a PvP sense from doing so is nonsense...It only makes a difference if you're buying larger cargo or trade specific ships outside of the starter package offerings...(ie) mining or salvage ships...nothing else.

Practically all of the PvP meta ships are in the $65-$150 basic small ship range 🤷‍♂️
Thanks for the reply Mole, but if I was an uber rich whale dreaming of dominating the "verse" (cringe), I would have my very own Wagner group surrounding my bling chariot wherever I went. This of course would never happen as Crobber isn't getting a penny from me.

"Join us in making the universe a better place for all with a Free Fly, referral bonuses, and rewards for both veterans and new recruits making use of the Guide System."
Getting some MLM feels here. How predatory is that guide system going to be with people hunting for referral code victims.

Wait to discover you can't pilot your ship in atmosphere, that you can only autoland and that flying in space will be as good and complex as flying in space in NMS.
Thankfully, Empyrion Galactic Survival and Space Engjneers exist for people who want that particular combination of features, plus base and ship construction.

Both created by teams less than 1% the size of CIG, and released in a fraction of the time CIG has taken so far.

...There are ganker orgs, the same players/groups that left here in a huff due their being modes that denied them the satisfaction of ruining another player's time. Those players will almost certainly end up causing CIG to make a place for PvE style players.
If they keep on with the Space Rust approach, yeah, the orgs will run the game and there will be no place for solos outside high security areas. The game will fail if that happens so, I suspect it will not take long for a PvE mode/servers to pop up, or a very draconian law and rep system to combat uncheck predation.
The game is in a terrible state right now, and the player base is fairly evenly split between helpful players, and toxic trash. Almost every criminal or pewpew org is populated by the latter unfortunately.

I often wonder why more companies/games don't take Hello Games approach (for NMS), whereby each player can set whether other players fire can injure them, and whether their own fire damages other players. There's also a setting for making your bases industructable.

Then everyone can play as they choose, excepting perhaps one group... but tbh who gives a flat fig about people who's pleasure seems to be causing others' grief.

Yeh, the more he resorts to comparing with ED the more desperate his arguments sound to be honest. Clear sign that SC can not stand on its own merits and the only option around here is to throw mud at ED.
The sad thing is, the minuscule Formicidae feels it’s necessary to compare SC to a ten year old game, with a tithe of its funding, and the only good thing he can say in comparison is that SC has ship interiors.

I'm serious and you don't know how ships can easily be bought and fully equipped. Ships and components in SC are dispendables stuff and you don't need to grind several months to max one ship.
The definition of pay-to-win does not depend upon how easy you claim it might be to catch up, in a theoretical future v1 release. How quickly do you think a new player on day1 can catch up with a legatus whale?

As I catch up, I can’t help but notice that petite picnic pillager keeps focusing on a very miniscule scenario: the difference between one person who bought the basic package, and another who spent $10 more on a fighter that can be "acquired in-game in a week," in a PvP scenario.

Imagine the difference in capabilities on day one between the starting non-combat ship (which can't carry cargo, or even mission boxes) and someone who spent $1000 on one of the bigger cargo-haulers, especially if their promised "dynamic economy" is online.

No, no. SC is already released. See latest statements by CIG regarding Early Access release in marketing campaigns, in game info and also in CIG official legal related documentation recently.

Its Schrodinger's game. Both in a state of released and not released at the same time. Its only when you take a look at it the quantum waveform collapses and it turns out to be a steaming pile of dog poo.
