Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

the faithful trying to get a place on /r/place

Current /r/place

An attempt to coordinate people to make the SC logo there....

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/1556y95/trying_to_get_an_effort_coordinated_to_get_the_sc/

As of an hour after this posting going up, it's mostly downvoted to 14%, which is... odd...

Some may remember, the last /r/place, where there were both ED and SC logos. But space is at a premium. To get a space you need plenty of people interested in it.

Looks like not enough people simply don't give a damn.

PS: Not sure what is going on with the indian flag. One is looking good, but the other seems to be having issues.

Think /r/place is a bit more lacklustre generally this year due to the ownership protests etc. (Lots of related cusses re 'spez' on display ;))

In any case, there are bigger pixels to shift... ;)

That's a bit premature don't you think Golgot?

After all, they are just beginning to build the company, and development won't really start until Turbulent gets up to speed - and that will take about three years as anyone with any game development knowledge of a brand new proprietary engine will tell you.

Is Star Citizen really that volatile? I have no interest in the game at all, my interest is in the sleezy business model. The bugs I've seen shows the opposite of a polished game Chris Roberts promised. Looks to me its borderline playable at best.

You'd have to ask someone who plays it ;)

Issues with desync / the physics system being overloaded aren't exactly unusual in the twitch clips though. It's more like something which can happen when the servers have been populated for a while, AFAIK.

So it's not so much that the game is constantly unplayable. More that its technical architecture doesn't handle the current scope of the game that well, tending towards instability over time. (And so doesn't look well placed to scale up and accommodate all the other planned features...)

Adding the big crates recently has just underlined some of that ;)

Perfect description of what the average user of this thread know about the game and why he is wondering how SC can get millions in funding 😅

Are you referring to this part of the post
"I have no interest in the game at all, my interest is in the sleezy business model."

or this part
"The bugs I've seen shows the opposite of a polished game Chris Roberts promised. Looks to me its borderline playable at best."

I think you're kind of stating the obvious though. I like to think I'm an average user here, I don't play Star Citizen and asked about its state rather than pretend to know things about the game and spill out things as if I am the authority figure on the subject.

Plays like shyte at the moment...some stability here and there but still fairly broken. There's fun to be had for a casual hour or two here and there but the bugs and occasional crashes take most of the fun back out. After a while, frustration usually wins out and you switch it off and go play Spacebourne 2 for the rest of the night :)

I feel ya.
I've been playing Bannerlord on and off but man its hard to enjoy the game when it crashes at least once each time I play. The game itself is stable, but the mods needed to actually play the game and have fun makes it a mess.

And still, in 2023, recieve zero games.
and already better and give more fun than some games released 👍

It's good from time to time to just say the obvious. I know you don't want to really know the game. Only the 'SC is a scam' is interesting you and posts that only show SC in a bad light. Someone like Golgot who only show bugs is perfect info for you, this thread (and perhaps the refund) is the only source of info you need. No need to search if there is more to the game than bugs 😏

A lot of poeple including me would say that's exactly what we're doing when calling Star Citizen a scam.

See, you still think I care about the bugs. I was asking a question about something I was curious about, pretty normal for people to do, becaue I don't know if the bugs I saw in those videos represents the average gameplay. Luckily Mole answered that question.

And yes I am only interested in the development, I'm only looking at the game as evidence of their actions. I didn't start off thinking it was a scam but a lot of what is shown from CIG lead me down that path. No I don't just focus on the negative either, I've liked your posts before when I thought it was informative and I have been proven wrong or jumped to conclusions by others here you say are anti-SC and I'm fine with that. Hell, you pointed out SC has wears and tears on the ships not too long ago and I did admit it improved my view of the game. It didn't change my view of CIG though, because it didn't change the way CIG operates.

I'm also not againt calling out games I like. Prime examples are Ghost Recon Wildlands and Mount & Blade Bannerlord. The games sucks but they're still the two game I play most. There is a distinction between liking something and standing up against what you think is wrong. Just because I like Wildlands and Bannerlord doesn't mean I'd defend any percieved attack on Ubisoft or Talesworld, in fact I hate both studios for how they operate and had stopped supporting them. I still play the games, but I also call them out for their bad deeds.

If you don't have an issue with how CIG are using backer's funds, good for you. It's not my fault I like making fun of CIG for how little they managed to put out despite the funding it got and time it had, or of people falling for their long history of lies. If CIG don't like it they can always speed up development and finish the game(s). At some point you have to ask yourself, are you defending CIG because you think they did no wrong or because you don't care and simply want the game of your dreams?

About Golgot, I don't comment on his post much beacuse like I said I don't care for the game itself, but the videos with CIG's history of promises are strong evidence CIG are not trustworthy. You on the other hand has all the opportuniy to present counter evidence in this court of public opinions. The stuff you post though are less trustworthy and you usually fallback to something like "do your own research" when confronted for proof. When one person has evidence from first party and the other has only word of mouth I'd rather believe the evidence.

TLDR: I'm just a guy on the internet CIG will never listen to me because I'll never give them my money.
