Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

It's whatever it is. Leave it to backers to come up with "anything but a game".
  • It's their new name for Quantum, it "sings with the souls" of the simulated NPCs
  • It's the name of the new character creator
  • It's SQ42 Episode Two
  • It's a mobile app to manage your character
  • It's an "e-sport league or for tournaments at CitCon"
  • If it's anything, it's early days. The trademark always comes first in a new project!
  • The Soulsinger Engine is their commercial offering of Star Engine
  • It's their new name for server meshing
  • It's a fictional TV series in the Worse
  • "If I had to guess, maybe it has something to with Death of a Spaceman and their character legacy system. Maybe they're going to make it a standalone developer toolset they can sell to other developers and studios." - I don't even...
  • It's their new name for AI
  • "Idk, maybe it's a service that provides certain info/stats from within the game that's relevant to our character or something"

Somewhere within CIG HQ:
"Cancel the merch! Benoit, StarSim is now called Soulsinger! Get those posters off the wall!"

EDIT: The primary 'nowt to see' response is that: Because Star Engine is tagged the same way, it must just be some new undisclosed tech...

That looks like copium. They are not described in the same way at all though. While Star Engine is primarily described as an engine and as a tool, Soulslinger is clearly described primarily as entertainment and as a video game.

StarEngine
Downloadable computer game software; Downloadable video game software; Downloadable computer software, namely, game engine software for video game development and operation; Downloadable and recorded software for use in creating, manipulating and participating in virtual environments; Downloadable and recorded computer, software development tools for the creation of computer-generated imagery and graphics for the production of video games;

SoulSlinger
Entertainment provided via the Internet, namely, providing online massively multi-player video games; on-line entertainment services in the nature of online computer game tournaments; providing on-line information in the field of computer gaming entertainment; Entertainment services, namely, ongoing multimedia programs about a computer game featuring a fictional universe, accessible by web-based applications, mobile phone applications, and computer networks

This sounds indeed like something the game press should call CIG and get an official response about. Going to be interesting to see CIG´s spin! 🍿

lol, someone in spectrum found this:

Soulsinger may be a marketing tech... Though I'd call it HamelinPiperTech

Yeah the 'Star Engine' entry is much heavier on the tools language. This def isn't a Quantum FOIP module to save PC gaming ;)

Yeah, it could be anything, really.

The funniest interpretation I could come up with, is that backers have been paying for years to enable Chris and Tony Z. to roleplay the best, and imaginary, versions of themselves. Chris finally delivering his cinematic magnum opus WC games could never be, while Tony Z. implements the Best Damn Economic Simulation Ever in a game, as it was always supposed to work in his most feverish dreams.

I like this one. It leaves a way out:
"It's a project that Turbulent had been working on before the takeover. It would be a shame to let it go to waste."

Citcon is going to make everything alright again.

It hasn't really set the subs / Spectrum alight though, especially with that '1 thread and done' limit on Reddit. Just a smouldering fire really. Reckon CIG will be able to stay shtum unless the gaming press pick it up. (And honestly there's not a huge amount for them to build a story on, beyond 'Name doesn't sound very spacey' etc. Reckon MassivelyOP might give it a go tho ;))
