Interesting if true.

Rich Tyrer was a Kickstarter backer...

I guess a fan did make it to Director level ;)

The question is, did he rise based on talent or rise based on sucking up to Chris and never telling Chris "no"?

Remember, Chris is on record literally saying he doesn't like people who tell him no, he gets rid of them, he likes people who say things can be done (regardless of whether they could be/should be done)

Ah, Asmongold... youtuber.. you would have to look him up and see how the guy lives. He's dedicated his life to making videos and seems to disregard everything else in his life, like hardcore MMO players.
Only heard of his name until this week. He got a banned (Not sure how long) from youtube or twitch. The ban and reason for banning wasn't what caught my attention, it was his apology video. He was desperately trying to not get canceled and reading comments, streaming IS his life. He had chosen streaming over everything else.

Watching Mike´s react to the 1.0 presentations: I didnt see CIG explicitly stating that they will continue selling ships after launch, but their insurance ideas including insurance + warranty for every ship bought at the store very strongly suggests that will be the case. Does CIG need to clarify this or is it stated somewhere else?

We have been told all along that only starter ships would be sold after launch, and that that means this is not p2w. This would be a huge bait and switch. So regarding p2w discussions that argument can be put to rest at least.

Also interesting in the 1.0 presentations Tyrer mentions multiple shards. So the dreams of those believing that single shard, "thousands of players in the same location", was ever possible with server meshing in Star Citizen can be also put to rest hopefully.

Ships sold also after 1.0, no single shard with thousands of players in the same location, instancing (meshing ftw?), 5 systems, no 9/1 npc/player ratio economy, no npc crews etc etc etc. That 1.0 presentation is just a mine of switches for the last 12+ years of baits. In fact it should be added to the Bait and Switch entry in wikipedia with a picture of Tyrer 😋

The slides were nice tho.

Also interesting use of "first gameplay of Squadron 42" because I could have sworn they've shown stuff like the infamous "vertical slice" before.
Haven't they shown two different versions of the vertical slice, or at least multiple versions of several sections, over the years? It must be one of the biggest time sinks in terms of re-doing a finished demo over and over and over.

The Todd Papy Era is being erased from history.

The Inforunners vented their anger by buying CCUs to the Starlancer. The original video is only available to subscribers.

"For what we're looking at its a bloody good price"

No, no it isn't!

These people are off their heads and off their meds.

Amazing how they discuss the value of stuff that isn't even in fracking game.

What was the original Galaxy « promise »? What is it in conflict with the new ship?
In Todd Papy's base building presentation, the $380 Galaxy concept was announced not guaranteed to have a base building module and to be the JPG to have for the task if you didn't want to shell out $850 for the Pioneer concept.

With the appearance of the new Starlancer BLD concept (not in store yet, price unknown), the Galaxy's chances to have this module, should the ship release anytime soon, dropped and now the Starlancer is the best JPG for base building in the sub-$500 class.

It's all about shuffling chairs in dreamland. With lots of money involved.

I'll have a look...but I think I already melted my Galaxy jpeg for store credit... or CCU'd it to something else that's currently flyable...or had a decent loaner ship...one of those options. I shuffle stuff around so often I tend to forget what I have in the hangar these days :)

It's never a case of spending money I haven't already spent for me...besides the odd $10 or $20 here and there for cosmetics. Like most of us who've been around star citizen a while and are compulsive ship-shufflers, it's all about store credit. Very few of us long termers would even contemplate the newbie fascination with CCU cash chaining to some more expensive jpegs, we've spent all we'll ever spend on ships or jpegs... melting, buybacks and store credit CCU's is the store citizen mini-game we tend to play 🤷‍♂️
