Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

After downloading the PTU I decided I couldn't really be bothered with going in and setting up all my controls to deal with the new inputs and FM changes...or to find out if any changes are indeed necessary. I went off and played some Mafia 3 without even firing it up.

I'll catch the reviews/verdict on YouTube I guess.
Don't feel too bad. I'm part of the Evocati, but I find it difficult to find the motivation to fire it up much for testing these days.

@Kalwren
Can play for about 15 to 20 mins, and then get a 30k. It's happened twice. Had one crash to desktop, while alt-tabbed.

@TAC-Gator
Is it just me or are the servers crashing like crazy?

@Revenant-Actual
Boom 30k

@Deus_Maximus
I've had two 30K's so far, and a lotta lagged actions

@Revenant-Actual
Same.

@SneasyPotatoe
I had 2 30k's in less then 30 minutes

@Revenant-Actual
I have had 2 30ks in 30 minutes as well.
1st didn't happen for an hour, but the second was about 30 minutes after.

@SirCiscoStu
lots of npc stuck everywhere in NB

@SirCiscoStu
huh, not even the Terrapin's Vtol can manage to sustain flight on planets...
seems a bit drastic

@Sisko03
can't find a departure spline anytime I take off in larger ships from area 18

@Revenant-Actual
3rd 30k

@Revenant-Actual
Flying above NB was hard but I honestly think it was because I couldn't see the flight HUD at all.

@Sisko03
can't find a departure spline anytime I take off in larger ships from area 18

@El_Dio
I don't see how anyone thought it was a good idea to make it so you can only lock on by pointing your nose at them.

@Jonneyd93
just got done playing around with 3.10. biggest issue with the new targeting system is the new PiP is extremely hard to see against bright backgrounds

@Landstander
It would be nice if the splines would actually show up
I can't leave a18 without being blown up

@John_Sarge
Can you target someone coming from any vector?

@Major_Outage
the nearest one only

@MikeFear303
this flying in slowmotion in atmo is boring already pfff

@Major_Outage
but the "lock nearest enemy" worked no matter if they were in front, behind, below, etc.
locking or pinning anything else was line of sight

@ionpig
anyone else here notice the cockpit sounds of the 890 are just unbearable now? seems they have added a bunch of noise... it's rage inducing

@ionpig
omg, it's like they added small invisible speakers in the bridge that link to some of the engine and other systems around the ship, except they own $3 dollar headphones and s----- gear, so it's WAAAAY up into the mix and overbears all the good noises... it's insane

@ionpig
and it's just a short loop that traverses up in pitch
h o l y f--- the audio equivalent of seizure inducing flashing lights

@Gatlinghammer
4 full server 30ks in less than an hour and a half.

weird flex, but ok

I was not sarcastic, I know there are such specialists here.

The "unwilling to change your view/perspective no matter what" is both way 😁. No-one seems to have changed his mind despite all my good arguments.
I don't feel attacked, it's fun to discuss here.
Be reassured, I will not talk so much everyday. We have almost finished to discuss all big points.
SC is a religion at this point, so the only thing that realistically matter in this debate between religion vs atheism is who has the neutrally observable objective reality on their side.

I tried a bit later on...had no gear whatsoever so had to go buy some armour/weapons/food etc at area 18...took nearly a minute to get the caterpillar off the floor on full thrusters, 5 attempts to get the landing gear up...then I exploded before I left the no fire zone. Couldn't see any of these spline things they keep on about.

I rage quit at that point and went back to Mafia 3.

Alright I just felt like you were preparing to pull another "victim-card" on us like somebody else did not too long ago when he didnt make any progress. I m glad you are in for the long run ^^

I dont want to bash your view but you dont decide if your arguments are good or not. Others do. Thats why other people evaluate your performance on any given subject...not you yourself. For example its rather easy to fall into a perception-trap meaning your first post is obnoxious and aggressive = thats how people will continue to read your posts even tho it could ve been a botched attempt at written humor. Not saying thats whats happening here.

If you feel like your arguments dont sway anybody there are two possibilities.

1. everybody else is a stubborn and biased Star Citizen opponent
2. your arguments are not as good as you think they are

Number 2 usually is the answer when you discuss opinions or favorites. You just need to accept that other people have different values on the things you value highly. Fun is not a good indicator because its the result of a lot of things coming together. We all know what "fun" is.....how we have it differs drastically tho. From your posts I gleen that you put a lot of value on visual representation. Star Citizens detail and graphical niveu wins you over. Those qualities enable you to ignore or play down issues and problems you run into. Others disregard the graphics and focus on the problems because they touch areas they value highly for example multiplayer experience or FPS gameplay. Star Citizen doesnt have a dedicated or simple group feature that would enhance MP gameplay. Animations, hitboxes and precision are too low/bad to allow for great FPS action. When Mole first came here to describe his fun I in particular was unable to understand his reasoning. What followed can be described as "quizzing" him for various aspects of his experience to figure out what he means. It made me realize how worthless the claim of "fun" is overall when you try to figure out a products qualities so if thats your main argument its no surprise that you dont convince anybody. People will understand and accept eventually that you really have fun and dont fake it but you having fun is of no importance in this discussion except for when you make it one (hence your impression that you are not "allowed" to say you have fun)

We all understand "its an alpha" or "early days" but many people stop and wonder when they learn about the development start or how much money was already used up in order to reach this current version. There are a lot of examples in SCs development which raises red flags and worries. Their culmination paints an overly negative picture. I m sure there are people out there who will always interprete any kinds of news in the worst possible way in order to keep their narrative but at what point that becomes obsessive depends mostly on the company involved. CIG has a track record of overpromising and underdelivering. It was caught hiding critical information or outright lying. Nepotism is a pretty much established/proven theory and Star Citizens technical capabilities are demonstrated every single day by people logging in. If I hear news about Star Citizen or CIG and at first assume something bad I m not sure you could call me a "hater". The answer probably lies in your willingness to change your view/opinion or not.

I was idly thinking about CR's absence from the limelight in recent months, which is odd for someone whose ego was previously such a driving force in the development. I came to the conclusion that while he reveled in being the face of "Star Citizen: the astonishing and widely-lauded crowd-funding success story (pewpewgamescitizen.com)", he's much less inclined to be associated with "Star Citizen: the lies, incompetence and corruption behind the most outrageous and expensive failure in gaming history (Jason Schreier)"

My money is on the fact he's finally seen the writing on the wall, that he's never, ever going to realise the "vision" he's been selling since 2012, and that he's never going to be the saviour of gaming that he imagined, and he's desperately trying to pivot into some new business venture before the SC legacy becomes too toxic for anyone to want to associate with him. This is, after all, the man who said things would start to get stale after 3 years, about 8 years ago. And no doubt he's pocketed enough seed capital for another movie production company or something.

I m with you on that. I was suggesting shame but its very possible that we currently witness Roberts exit strategy to avoid responsebility. Bootchas latest video in his series 9 months ago already addresses this and predicts it and also touches a lot of things we currently witness. Its eery and almost as if he "knows what hes talking about". If it IS Roberts exit strategy then he probably is working on it for months already (probably since end of 2019) which means he is very likely to walk off a rich man leaving fans and backers holding the smoking ruins.

SC is a religion at this point, so the only thing that realistically matter in this debate between religion vs atheism is who has the neutrally observable objective reality on their side.

Atheists are going to claim neutrality here but I wonder if its just justification for "making your mind up and sticking to your guns". I mean nobody is realistically believing in Santa Claus oder the Easter Bunny as an adult anymore. But people believe in a god. All of these have the exact same evidence (none - just stories) yet people disregard some and believe in others.

With Star Citizen I pretty much made my mind up but I read and evaluated all the information available to me bar logging in myself in order to come to this point. When somebody starts to argue with me and brings up known arguments I examined in the past I will dismiss his argument without thinking about it. No doubt he will see me as an extremist because he doesnt see me putting any effort into it all. When I m simply bored with the same old same old. Like an adult who isnt excited over a kids toy anymore. My 5 year old nephew has trouble understanding my lack of excitement over his toys when I dont fake it.

The only thing able to change my opinion about Star Citizen are new results, new information regarding the project. And here I challenge people who question my knowledge. I certainly didnt study or work in any project related capacity but I ve read through all the arguments and were able to follow/understand most of them so theres really no mystery in all this except for this "fun" thing. And when we try to figure out why some people have fun while others have not we discover that it depends on the person....not the game or topic.

The bottom line is, in religious discussions there is no common ground. Something happens and one side will yell "its a sign from god" while the other group says "its just rain". Neither one will convince the other. Star Citizen is exactly like this but then.....a lot of things are in life.

Yes, I don't decide what you have to think. Everyone is free to take into account my arguments or not. I was a little joking with my "both way", since the beginning I know not one person will change his mind here with my arguments and I don't post here to convince you. I post mainly to give the lurkers and newcomers a little different voice in the thread and give you some good news about the alpha. The bad news are quickly forwarded here, it's alas not the case for the good news...

Fair enough :)

3.10 patch : update of the ocean shader : reflection of the sun

3.10 patch : dust effect added when landed. Good but can be improved
Annotation 2020-07-16 113026.png

3.10 patch : new Greycat ROC. Mining rover. We can mine by foot, rover and ship now

new shader, new dust, new vehicle skin

You can really see why they had to put aside the other 99 systems and gameplay loops to get this "just right" using all the additional years and money

Hey, that vehicle is far from cosmetic! It lets you do the things you can already do on foot and in ship too ;)
