Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Apart from the flight model, one of the big change in this 3.10 patch is the trade API. Its not a big technical change, but a big social one. A lot of backers haven't realized it but that's the real start of the job gameplay in SC and there are real job supply and demand in the chat now.
A detail of the video below : a player (A) with a caterpillar bought and sell 300K of diamonds with a friend (B) while paying support from another player (C).
The API was first used by the player B to give to player A the 150 K of his part of the deal. The risk is therefore shared by A&B.
A&B put an ad to hire a support during the transport of the cargo. They don't say what type of support but it's certainly an escort with a combat ship or a turret gunner.
The cat arrive at destination and the cargo is sold. A pay C 5000 aUEC for the escort and pay B 199K.

Since the trade API and the mining scan for all of 3.10, there are also mining groups hiring long range ships for full-time scanning job. The scanning ship find the deposits for the whole team and is paid for that.

Mole HD, with the new mining scan for all and the trade API, you should try to sell your competence as independant miner (with or without ship). It's like playing solo, but with other players.
@sovapid - looks like there is a new API to find targets.

LittleAnt pledged for $50...that's all I'm saying. I wish I could have paid that amount to generate the sheer amount of girlie hysteria on here... Make of that what you will :)

"how much" he pledged is of no importance in all this. No idea why you would bring it up. Is that supposed to change anything?

A blast from the past came up on SA forums.

Forget when this was done, somewhere around 2015 perhaps? Maybe someone knows.

Anyway, enjoy it.

That is some Thylbana level of cringe right there.

But was it worth it though?

I mean - he may have a bazillion dollars and a mansion - but is a clearly and repeatedly abject failure to deliver, utter lack of ability, and to be the laughing stock of at least three industries worth that?

I'll take living in modest mediocrity with a justified sense of accomplishment and my integrity intact over any of that - any day of the week.

This is assuming that CR has a moral/ethical compass. I have come to the conclusion that you do, but he does not.

Ten pages back LittleAnt said (not the first person to say it and will not be the last) CIG is the most transparant dev. This statement is kind of stupid. I mean no offense and not trying to be juvenile, but to make that kind of statement you really have to know what all devs are doing to make the comparison. I've never felt like CIG had been particularely transparent. Not because of their lies and false PR, but because what they spill out are the same as other devs regarding their game progress, CIG just spills out a lot more of it. Thing is transparency doesn't mean, volume of information, it's accurate and unmanipulated information. For example, a transparent governernment project means the progress and tax payer's money could be accounted for and the public can check the accounts for corruption, it's the opposite of smoke and mirror.

CIG had never been very transparent, noone knows their intent, noone has any idea on what they spent their money and time doing, they say a lot but there is no way for anyone to check the accuracy of it. They have never been honest about their progress or current projects. A recent example is there had never been mentions of TOW in the roadmap prior to it's reveal or FOIP or sandworm, or any hint on how they are spending money. Don't even give me the roadmap excuse, even backers admits it's not an accurate representation of what's happening. Although backers loves to tell everyone what CIG is up to and doing as if they're in the know, I would bet their lives, they don't. :D

The argument that transparecy doesn't mean they have to tell you anything is just wrong. Withholding information and keeping secrets/surprise isn't transparency. Going back to goverenment exmaple, if a government agency refused to answer questions then it's not being transparent. If you use the word 'open' instead, sure CIG could claim to be the most open devs around, they sure as hell were open to suggestions and dreamcrafting. But open isn't strictly a virtual because it doesn't have the same level of implied honesty as 'tranparent'. A governemnt agency that is open to inspection sounds nice but it doesn't mean they haven't been spending two weeks prior hiding stuff they didn't want the inspectors to see. A person opening up to you doens't mean they're objective.

So TLDR: transparency isn't the volume of information but the accuracy and truthfulness of it (edit: also shuld be verifiable by third parties).
Being open is they let you see what they want you to see but being transparent is letting you see everything.
I'm talking out of my ass, can you smell it?

Most of of the things CIG says will happen often do not happen, or happen terribly poorly or years late, compared to how they were represented and sold for money. This means CIG does not really give "more info", it actually misinforms (all the while accepting the cash for it) which is worst than not giving any information at all

At this point I'm more surprised that a bunch of governments haven't contracted CIG to handle their Coronavirus briefings, given their track record.

"Here's our roadmap for how we plan to reopen the economy this April May June July August"

…not to mention that CI¬G's communication isn't all that voluminous any more either. The signal-to-noise ratio was always very very low when they made a lot of it, and all that has happened now is that they've cut all the signal, and only a little bit of noise out of the equation.

Everyone still has the "free" freelancer. Use it and go do Authorized Execution Warrants around Hurston. Easy risk free money.

If you are willing to get a crime stat, you'll get even higher paying illegal missions doing the same thing after you complete a few of the Execution Warrants.

wait!
only 3500 credits to go find and kill someone?
no thanks.
by the way the freelancer is a ugly ship but above all has a visibility that sucks.

Does it punch above it's weight though? ;)
Seeing as how SC ships are made from polystyrene and bubble-wrap, going by the “physics” of them being knocked around on the ground and by how they crumble when damaged, that's pretty trivial to achieve and doesn't amount to much in the way of punch…

The legal ones go up to 10k, maybe 12. Take a couple minutes including travel time.

Freelancer may be ugly, but it is super tanky. One of the best ships for PVE combat, its what I use.

in the "general" tab I only see Authorized Execution Warrants that pay 3500, but then I noticed that in the tab "personla" I have one with 8000.
What is the difference between general and personal? why do I have more rewarding mission in the personal tab?

Ahh...but if he'd drunk the Kool-aid and followed suit with the faithful, he'd certainly by now have pledged more...wouldn't he not? ;)

In general, personnal missions are not so legal and can give crimestat.
You have also missions specific to each planets. And some missions appear only when you have made a bunch of others missions.
