Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

8 years and nothing to show for. Not even a roadmap. That is so utter ridiculous - it's incomprehensible how people still buy their nonsense after being lied to again and again.
Shouldn't this just be every post here from now on?

Anywho, when will Calder or someone in management say something about what is going on, why CR/SR are MIA? Or address the idiocy of a roadmap to alpha of a roadmap revision 5, after 9 years? One would think the forums over there would really be ablaze at this point.

just add the http yourself: clips.twitch.tv/BlushingStrongDinosaurKreygasm

Oh, remember how people told me that the only reason i was seeing two trams spawning at once was because of my poor computer specs..... yeah, someone want to tell this streamer his rig is rubbish?

Who was telling you this? No one who actually plays. This bug is not uncommon. Getting killed by it is though. 🤠

They might be doing their often qouted transparency, as in invisible.

This is good for Star Citizen. Nobody promising to add new stuff out of the blue.

Also...
Cant link via FD's forum link,

just add the http yourself: clips.twitch.tv/BlushingStrongDinosaurKreygasm

It's not you, it's Fidelity. Clive Johnson from CIG said so...

There are a few myths that seem to get repeated quite a lot - please allow me to dispel some of them for you:

  • The graphics pipeline does not wait for server updates.
  • Server FPS does not affect client FPS.
  • Netcode does not make clients run slowly, and never has.
  • Netcode does not make servers run slowly, anymore, even though we've added more clients.
  • You get better performance on newer servers because there are fewer players on them so your client has to do less work - like physics, animation, IFCS, and entity updates.
  • Players hacking the game to play PU in "offline mode" get better performance than they do online because their clients don't have to deal with all the load generated by 49 other players.

What is so hard about fixing the performance problems is that the game is pushing the engine way beyond what it was designed to handle. Fixing that means fundamentally changing how systems work while simultaneously trying not to break everything in the game that uses them. Big performance gains that require making big changes take time. Sometimes we have to do a lot of restructuring before we can even start working on an optimisation. Making all these changes can introduce a lot of bugs, and fixing those takes even more time. Let's also not forget that performance is not the only goal here - we're also trying to achieve fidelity levels not seen before. Fidelity is often the enemy of performance, so we find ourselves having to optimize even further than we otherwise would have had to.

Or maybe you should prioritize performance since you're making a goddamn multiplayer game?

I know, crazy suggestion. How do you sell JPGs of performance for a decade? A tough problem to solve, but surely the galaxy-sized brains in Santa Monica should've been able to figure it out.

Microsoft Game Studios, not EA. And right now, no, there's not even a chance of them showing up when the SC project goes bankrupt and adding CIG to their massive gobbling up of small dev studios that they've been bingeing on for the last 2 years, because in all but a few of those cases of ones they've bought lately, they had a proven track record of actually delivering decent finished games.

yes thank you. I noticed a day later but didnt manage to fix it yet, you are correct, blunder on my part.

I reckon most of the NPC's have been deleted to try and improve server frame rates and desync across the board.

Well...did it help?

I guess its easier to disregard, dismiss and ignore something you dont like if it remains static. And many claim the FD forums dont change but actually the tone does very frequently depending on what CIG does or doesnt do. And as there are quite a few effort post in all that deluge of negativity it looks like the continous participation not allowing the thread to die off triggers a lot of people who want to pick up the banner on CIGs behalf and "fight the good fight".

So no, nothing will change around here but it looks like this-not-changing is what people like you know...kind of like Star Citizen. You dont stop the scam when people like to be scammed ;) 🍿

If they'd stop filling the game and servers full of pointless shyte, maybe it would all work swimmingly ;)

Carrot-on-a-stick doesnt work if you remove the carrot.....doh

...Carrot-on-a-stick doesnt work if you remove the carrot.....

Although carrot-on-shyte seems to work 'well'.

Any news on the SQ42 video*? Any news on SC beta phase*? Does anyone know for sure that the 'new' roadmap is on their current roadma..... ...actually.... scrub that thought*...

* ...it's only been 8+ years...

I remember saying to someone a good few years back around 2013/14. I said 'we'd be lucky to see this game out before 2018'. I have to say I was years off target.
I'm thinking 2028 now (perhaps).

I do like what I see sometimes in SC, also I did buy an Aurora with a hangar (what happened to flying from those), which I still have. But that is where it stopped for me. I will play it again at some point, but that point is someway off yet I feel.
I like the idea and some of what is in there, but I do feel that if CR had moved aside a few years back, the game would be much nearer to release.
