Procedural birds are in?

I know the limitations of the shyte hardware and software Ci¬G are fobbing us off with...it's more the Eve online with cockpits crowd bringing the same mentality into SC that I'm on about.
Not sure that borking the entire game for everyone was their plan, more like "let's see how much cash we can generate" and go from there. The fact that this broke SC for everyone is kinds worrying. Must be an overflow somewhere doing something very unexpected.

EDIT2: maybe the autoclicker screws up the buffering meaning that nonsense data gets written to the db.... bypassing error checking which seems to be the main oof. Databases are strange beasts, the first thing that you learn is to be very careful what you feed them otherwise they can soil themselves pretty spectacularly.

Something something alpha testing something something!

;)

EDIT: To clarify, there's a difference between knowing that a bug is there and finding a way to exploit it in a way that has massive side-effects. If this bug can break the system in this way, then other bugs could do similar.

That it happened on a public alpha (cough live deployment cough) that CIG have been selling digital goods for is what makes this so spicy.

Yeah, it is possible this guy and his autoclicker caused the issue. It is a lot easier to say you caused it though. Could be any number of other issues.

And looked at the persons post history to see if I could figure out the org. Not many SC posts, but there were enough about being an awkward person and a lot of creative writing posts. :ROFLMAO:

Anyone believe that this is the first time someone has written a macro to take advantage of an exploit in SC?

What was the side effect? Was every single player, everywhere, reset to zero aUEC? Or was it just the members of the Org? Or just the players on the server at the time?

From spectrum:

"Theatres of War should never have been announced.
We're already mid August 2020 and this quick side project that was supposed to be almost finished last Citizencon is now totally MIA. Like the fabled SQ42 video and the Idris mission (remember those?), this is just another announced product that CIG simply cannot get through the door.

At this point I really just want CIG to show us overall progress, but stop announcing anything until its a day away from release."

Seems it is taking some SC fans over 8 years of development to realize what most other developers and publishers have already been practicing for decades, and that the fabled transparency is useless when a non trustworthy developer abuses it.

Nah, there were the wallhacks and aimbots for Star Marine that came out, oh, 2 weeks after it was released.
Granted, those weren't macros, as such, but they did exploit CI¬G's unfamiliarity with how multiplayer games — or more specifically multiplayer game players — work.

Nice of them to note Sean said it was almost ready last Citizencon as well. I'm sure hardcore backers have tried to memory hole that or explain it away as people not understanding roadmap development.

Is this account worth selling? I'll be dead before these "games" are released, and I no longer run MS.
Starter comes with both games and the ship shown.

Oh look, another detachable cockpit.

Borne out of a culture of fighters, the Esperia Talon, just like the original, is built for battle. And anyone who's logged hours behind the stick of a fighter can attest that combat is anything but predictable. The cockpit's ability to launch as an escape pod encapsulates the Tevarin spirit of never backing down from a fight.

Wonder if this one will work in Dec 2020...
