A part of them can't use anymore a whole bunch of their arguments against SC (buggy alpha, poor framerate, CIG doesn't fulfill expectations, etc) without seeing them applied also to EDO. Another part of them like and play SC now and stopped beeing skeptics. And another part of them who loved to mock SC for the fun have simply lost the desire to do it after the debacle of EDO and aim their energy toward FDEV.

Also the fact that some well known ED players (that are not the evil biased SC streamers) just have shown to a lot of skeptics that SC have gameplay, can be enjoyable and be played without giving more than 45 € to CIG, transforming those skeptics gamers to neutral gamers.

The amount of skeptics will not regenerate by itself. It is only dismishing patch after patch. You can see it here you are far less numerous than before to post.

You do know that ED being bad doesn't make SC good right?

I think the pool of skeptics will continue to grow, as it has been steadily growing for years now.

Here is the subscription count for the refund sub. Still growing at a steady rate despite Odyssey's release.

Wishful thinking. I'm still here and I've castigated ED's crappy looty gameplay just like I did with cash grabbers unfulfilled hype that is SC.

On the one hand, massive wall of text that i find hard to even understand what his real issues are with SC. But the community of course also picking up on that and rather that replying to his points just ragging on him for the length of his post.

He is absolutely right about HOTAS and the lack of guidance for new players.
He seems like a good chap who gave it a good go and enjoyed it but just wants to game to be a bit more fleshed out, that's fair enough and i think it was good of him to offer up his feedback.

I hate the way Spectrum can be so toxic, "Its in Alpha" yes we know, the irony is if you listen to CIG developers, SaltEMike had a couple of them of them on.... they hate these "its in Alpha" idiots nearly as much as you do @Agony_Aunt they don't think its at all helpful and what they actually appreciate is exactly the type of feedback this person provided.
The toxicity in spectrum is also a shame because in game, in the in game chat, you know, those playing the game... are extremely polite and helpful.

The skepticism hasn't stopped. Just because the names aren't here, doesn't mean they've stopped. I can account for a few of those names and tell you with certainty that they are simply posting elsewhere with the same level of incredulity.

You just need to know where to look, because SC discussion isn't contained to just this thread.

Yeah, i try and watch SaltEMike when i can, even subbed to him for a couple of months, which is not like me at all. I like the guy (despite his often rose tinted glasses, although its funny as well when SC causes him to have a little rage) and i think he does good content, and i've seen him lose his head over the ITS ALPHA people on a couple of occasions.

As AA says, you're lost in an 'ED bad = SC good' fallacy. Of course there's a shift in tone in ED-land after EDO's duff launch. But none of it changes SC's actual state, or the broader public perception of the same. SC is still seen as the perpetual alpha which sells spaceship jpegs to whales. And as internet memes go, it's pretty accurate

I'd also add that comments may be slowing to match CIG's development pace. One can only tread over the same ground so many times before seeking new environments because the scenery doesn't change.

LA, why do you speak as if you are the first SC White Knight we've had round these parts? I wish I could express to you how many incarnations of 'you' there have been down the years, some more militant, some less so and they arrived and they left. Guess what, it's an internet forum, if I stop stating that if bull lies were rubber then CIG and Chris would bounce to bloody Mars and back on here does it mean I've stopped believing it or that I'm busy at work?. does it mean I've stopped believing it or I'm on a holiday?, does it mean I've stopped believing it or myself or a relative is unwell?

Honestly LA you sounding the hooters and firing silly string everywhere claiming 'SC now good cos Odyssey bad' is pure manure. Shall we see where we are in say 3-6 months time LA? - you know, when that 'ooooh shiny' honeymoon has worn off, when SC is exactly where it has been for the last god knows how long? Let me level with you, I stopped playing Elite sometime ago because in my mind Frontier are delivering bones with no meat all over the show but if I had to put my life on which would be in a far better state sooner, say 3-6 months, Odyssey or SC/Sq 42? - yeah, I'd back Frontier developments every single bloody time despite having a nagging feeling that they've kicked me in the nether regions.

If I'm wrong here LA, no problem pal I'm man enough to admit and apologise when I'm wrong, sadly not many are. But I utterly fail to see how Odyssey being a cluster frak in any way improves the product that is AlphaCitizen.

Why would the general masses give a flying frak about SC in 2021? Other than news of them raising yet more money and general surprised comments of "Oh SC is still alive", not much happens.

It's just an alpha. When the tech is done and SQ42 is launched to glowing reviews, the masses will care. Any day year decade now.

Combined, I probably have more hours in Space Engineers and Empyrion: Galactic Survival than I do Elite Dangerous. Kerbal Space Program easily has twice as many hours. The fact that Frontier bungled their release of Odyssey (among other things) does not suddenly make Star Citizen good, nor does it excuse nine years and nearly half a billion dollars of bungling financed with other people’s money. Especially when CIG continues its bungling and spendthrift ways.
