Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Nah, there are some good subs out there.

For example IdiotsInCars is always good for a laugh.... or horror.

Also, you might like this one

Or this one

There truly is a reddit for everthing, even this...

I said 'realists'...not idiots with phone cameras :D

I tried the Russian Ural owner's sub once...posted a video of a short ride on the Recce wagon only to horrify the denizens of that sub after they realised my sidecar was on the 'wrong' side

Why do you assume he's a backer as opposed to some newbie trying out the free-fly? From what I read...he's probably the latter.

My bad, but reading that, if he wasn't a backer when he tried the free fly, he's probably a backer by now ;)

Changed the word to "people" instead of "backer"

However, a number of backers do say this sort of thing. It came up on the refund sub where because of this (and other talking points made in the post, not shown here), they assume its an old backer shilling for CIG by pretending they are a new player. While that is certainly fishy, i'm willing to accept they may just be a new player suckered in and already drinking the kool aid and repeated the regular faithful quotes.

Happens every free-fly event...that's why Ci¬G's marketing snakes push them so often, they invariably bring in new victims :D

Most of them never last long, a few months at most after dropping $40-$50 on a pledge. Apart from the hardiest souls who realise from the get go exactly what they're buying into, there isn't enough there to capture any long term interest from the casual gamer, especially for the likes of that guy playing on a gaming laptop. Once the "Ooo, look...clouds!" thing is over, I honestly can't see him forking out a bucket load of cash on Star Citizen :)

So, here's something to make one wonder from the post

I love quantum leaping to get around planets and skip between systems

Umm, between systems?

Ok, so that bit about having spoke to a board member and three developers is interesting. How is he in a position to do that? So, naturally it has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Yeah that bit beckoned for a mountain of salt ;)

(There are scarcely any board members who would know about the tech side in that much detail for a start. It's basically just Erin or the Turb guys that fit the bill as far as I can see. So, like, maybeeee the guy has contacts in the UK or Montreal dev worlds, and could tap one of them up. Maybeee. But would they be that straight even with a fellow dev? Assuming the guy is even a game dev.)

But hey, maybe he invested. Would def get their ear then ;)

Server meshing has been taken out of Ci¬G's hands...it's Turbulent who are working on the current instance based solution....since it was Turbulent's CEO and Turbulent devs that introduced and described the whole process during Citcon. They're still all 'Ci¬G' internally of course but it's no small thing that the entire presentation of the current solution was left to Turbulent to reveal. Not only does that somewhat verify the specific leaks that appeared via @WotGTheAgent...but I also get the feeling that Roberts has been slapped down over the non progression of both Sqn 42 and SC...and hard. By whom or by what process...board intervention or something else, that's also left to pure speculation. :)

That does feel like the broad beats of what's going on, but I think it's still a bit more commingled and complicated than that. Turbulent only presented the data backend side of SM. The main presentation was still done by Reindell, the magic German imbedded since the demo days.

Paul Reindell would still have to be involved in any solution...since he's a former Crytek engineer. Like I said, Turbulent are still all part of Ci¬G internally...they're not forging ahead on their own with regard to anything SC related...but the decision to shut Ci¬G's silly version of the server meshing dream down, without actually doing it, but deflecting it off to a complicated instance based solution came from somewhere...and I very much doubt it came from CR 🤷‍♂️

This new Turbulent/Ci¬G relationship...It's certainly very complicated...as well as obvious without being glaringly obvious. So inconspicuous in fact that everyone seems to be missing it despite being told about it...

Maybe because the Nulltwatters like Zyloh, CR and Co. keep on spreading the nollocks. We "aim", we "plan", we "strive" blahblah.

Amateurish at best...all that way to get a Lesnick of war through the most difficult and convaluted route possible bar buying one outright. Nobody...I mean nobody... is buying a 300i with the intent of turning it into a Lesnick of war. Quite a few of the ships he's CCU'ing are infinitely more useful than a Lesnick to boot... the Prospector, Warden and Redeemer for a start.

I've done some creative store credit shuffling with my lot to end up roughly where I wanted, just melting and CCU'ing with zero dollar input. I've left a couple of CCU's sitting in the hangar unapplied until the ships in the upgrades have some purpose... 400i to Lesnick of war and Redeemer to Reclaimer...Once salvage 🤭 and refuelling 😑 are a thing...those will stay as unapplied CCU upgrades until I click the button or sell them on if I eventually decide I don't want them, I can still use the 400i and Redeemer until such time...both of which I quite like to be fair :)

Why are you reading all that casual peasant guff on reddit?...you're missing all the F5 wars with entitled morons buying up reams of $1500-$3000 capital ship jpegs. Pioneer day today...another half a mil in the bank for Ci¬G

I don't read the sc reddit much, tend to avoid it. But sometimes stuff gets posted to refunds, so i read it then.

And they're selling the Pioneer again? An expensive ship for a feature that CIG haven't even started work on. As far as i know, isn't even on the roadmap. Just how stupid are these people?

Ok, don't answer that.

Yeah, silently smother the dreamtech without putting CR accountable. They should call it AbsolveTech. As for ToW, should be renamed Theaters of Absolution.

Funny to read here and there either Turbulent is basically CIG or Turbulent is a new studio depending of the context. Same as released or alpha. ^^

I wouldn't call it quality journalism either. I think it just nicely highlights how the media have nothing really to report about SC beyond how much money has been taken in.

Maybe one day SC will release, then the media will have something to really talk about.

Ok, one day SC might finally get a second system, but reporting positively on that will just be weird... like CIG should be praised for taking 10 years to get a second system into the game? I fully expect it to be "yeah, CIG finally added a second system. Just 108 more to go"
Oh please A_A, everyone knows that development only started tomorrow, and first they have to design and build all the tools and then the pipelines, then the stop-cocks, and then the macerator, then prime the pumps, regulate the silage injector... ...and then can Star Squadron 84 arrive and it will be the best thing (called Star Squadron 84) EVA! PERIOD! FULL STOP! * You clearly don't understand game development. **

As an aside, have the mentioned pipelines recently? I don't care, just wondered which set of puerile excuses explantions they had cycled back to, or are they still using the word mesh a lot?

(* I may have missed my meds last night.)
(** You may not be alone....)
