State of the Game

I'l leave this here
looks like some serious work has been done - happy to read this for you guys - it won't bring me back though, but I'm happy something is done now to make your experience better.

Oh rubbish!! You're just misunderstanding Parisian culture.... I believe that being rude, offhand, condescending and at times bordering on offensively dismissive is a mark of respect in Paris.... 😏
Oh - thank you for putting me right - and now I feel like an ungrateful fool and incredibly silly for mis-interpreting their (now) obvious deep love and overwhilming respect for me. (Alas it still doesn't explain the consistently poor food.)

In other news, I went to The Savoy Grill here in London a week or so back, under the banner name of Mr G Ramsey. Everything was fantastic, except for the very very bland and utterly anonymous food. Dare I say it was a nightmare?

but that is what the food is mostly like served to G. Ramsey

you need to grab a french friend, he or she will show you were to get marvelous food - as a tourist you are likely to not get the best you could get.
Yes, I would hope so. Although, I was taken to one 'wonderful family restaurant' by a Parisian colleague person git, and again the food was 'memorable'. He and his wife were licking their lips and had a wonderful time. I was left utterly whelmed.

Epic cottage pie tonight.
I made one of those but the thatch kept getting stuck in my teeth...

True! Basically, any big city... London is no better. Hence why I live in the country with fields and horses and a nice community... 😉
London has the advantage though, that on pretty much any day a new restaurant or inn is opening somewhere - and you get foodstuff mostly for free, just paying for your drinks. This was kind of an after-work event for my colleagues and I, when I lived in London, to take advantage of that (given that it was inside my London transport ticket range).
