Both excellent uses. I am serious about the pasta and risotto though. Marmite is spreadable stock.I put Marmite on sandwiches as a compliment to Vintage Cheddar, and plain old buttered toast, of course!

Also, Gearbox CEO is a big [shower word but in French], and I don't like giving him any money.
Well, that's at least one DLC on the hundreds they made which is goodtiny tina's assault on dragon's keep is incredibly funny ...and well worth justifying a movie based on the game. if they capture half of that kind of feel it'll do very well.

I've used it in other cooked dishes, pretty much as a stock, but not in pasta or risotto (not on the menu here any more - RL reasons, not dislike) and it rarely disappoints... My wife hates Marmite... I've never had the gall to tell her that some of the best tasting dishes I've served up...Both excellent uses. I am serious about the pasta and risotto though. Out of interest, given the polarising nature of marmite, if you're using a bit for the 'umami' in cooking, do the marmite-hating heathens ever not like it?Both excellent uses. I am serious about the pasta and risotto though. Marmite is spreadable stock.

I add a teaspoon (heaped, of course) to a pot that equals 3 servings, so a dessertspoon in a 6-8 would probably be about right - it does depend on how robust the starting flavours happen to be, a teaspoon in something with delicate taste might be very noticable! The danger of replying to posts before catching up to the end!!
How much marmite are you adding to a "standard" casserole (sort of 6-8 servings size, I guess)
Yes, my partner hates it on toast but loves a lot of dishes I cook with it. A teaspoon of marmite is a decent replacement for a stock cube, it generally tastes better. While my partner knows that I cook with it, I usually wait until afterwards to tell her to avoid priming her reaction - just as Rat Catcher said, don't tell (at least until they've had the first bite!).Out of interest, given the polarising nature of marmite, if you're using a bit for the 'umami' in cooking, do the marmite-hating heathens ever not like it?
