As for your line of "- focused feedback officially ditched"
All previous focused feedback discussions are archived when a new focused feedback topic is added to the mix.
It's far from being ditched.
Brett/Will I must admit I am somewhat confused by this.
If there is a public beta already in the works, and much of the groundwork for Q4 has been set, then what is the Exploration FFF actually for? It has been delayed so much that I just can't imagine we will be able to get any meaningful feedback in.
Forgive my scepticism but in many previous updates Frontier has released features that have been balanced around combat but penalised exploration - not on purpose, mind you, but through Frontier staff not necessarily understanding the playstyle of the hardcore explorer. We understand that explorers may not be the largest group or the most outspoken in Dangerous Discussion, but that's why the Exploration FFF was so important to us - so that we could help develop Frontier's ideas and make sure they match the actual playstyle of the exploration community and that nothing is overlooked.
An example of this would be the material storage system that would have
killed outer rim exploration had it been implemented in its original form, because it seems Frontier balanced around combat and momentarily forgot that synthesis mats are also stockpiled by other Elite play styles which require certain mimimum amounts of materials to accomplish certain feats and tasks.
A response would be much appreciated as there are 28 pages of disgruntled explorers in
Mengy's thread and another 30 pages in
Esquisite's thread, with no official response to either. Now we have been told that we are getting our FFF, weeks if not months later than expected, but that a beta is already planned for the coming weeks. It feels like we're just being asked for feedback as a formality.
This will be more of a blog-post style update, and there will be a chance for you to ask questions in the thread. The dev team will try their best to answer as many questions as possible in the hour or so following the post (specifically about the topic), but it will not work in the same way as previous focused feedback forums...
Ed, please say it's not so. I love Elite and have been patiently waiting for this FFF, a lot of the exploration community sees Q4 as make or break and have been looking forward to getting our turn to give input on the mechanics that we actually use. Why are we the ones whose FFF has been delayed and not getting the same chance to influence the game?
