Steam Support

Whether or not Frontier choose to distribute the game on Steam has no bearing whatsoever as to whether or not they choose to use them for modding support. By taking that path they would have to force all their customers to use Steam rather than their customers being given a choice.

I'm not sure why you're unable to make the distinction with this, you're comparing apples with oranges.
''You're comparing apples with oranges''? But you really understood what I said? It seems that you do not want to see the game on Steam, man.

Frontier has seen that Elite was a success on Steam, so there is every chance that we will see Planet Coaster on Steam, and as I said, not everyone buy in the store of Frontier or know the Frontier store, and also, I repeat, Steam Workshop is the most convenient and reliable way to upload content to download.

THERE IS NOT REASON FOR NOT SEE PLANET COASTER IN STEAM. And in fact, it's a matter of time that we will see Planet Coaster on Steam.

Again maybe they do not want to use the Steam Workshop, they could have their reasons why they don't want to use it. Simply they may think they could provide more flexibility in letting everyone add rides or other content with there system. For me until we know more, there is no point in talking about this anymore I don't think.

The modding support is a strong point of RCT3, RCT3 still is alive thanks to this because they would not want to do the same in Planet Coaster?

And to my knowledge, the safest and most popular way to provide modding is Steam Workshop, you only have to look Cities Skylines now, nothing to do with what it was at first.

Knowing that RCTW will have Steam Workshop, sure that Planet Coaster too.

The coolest part about Steam, is the workshop. Because files go in the appropriate places, instead of having to put this file in here and that file in there.....

Did they say they were planning on releasing it on steam? Or on there store first then steam later?
No but it makes sense. This is the largest video game store online in the world. So, unless you're "Ubisoft" or "Electronic Arts" (with Uplay and Origin, and players still laugh about these two [big grin]) you dont have the choice if you want to make money.

But you know, put a game on Steam, does not necessarily mean "be compatible with SteamWorkshop".

Well, but I want the game on Steam, too.

Like almost everyone, but no doubts !

SteamStore =/= SteamWorkshop

Steam is the most successful platform that is available on the Internet, if you do a good game and get good analysis on Steam, people will see the analysis and buy the game.

And I agree with you, put a game Steam does not mean being compatible with Steam Workshop, look Thrillville, or RCT3, are on Steam but do not have Steam Workshop.

The Sims 4 has its own UGC "store" which is in-game. I think Frontier might do something similar with Planet Coaster.

I thought the same thing.

As long as we dont have a stupid "Origin-like" with it, everything is ok !
Steam is clearly enough, all our games are already here, and we dont need a second, a third, and much less a fourth platform. [weird]

Yes, very much true [yesnod]
Although I understand they don't want to pay 30% of their sales to Valve. The payment methods on their own website are sufficient. They even support iDeal (a payment system which I believe is only used by the Dutch [mouth shut])

No, it's you who has completely misunderstood everything I've been saying.

This is what I was saying all along, no idea why you were trying to insinuate I didn't want to see it on Steam. Perhaps you should go back and read my posts again.

I do hope we get the possibility of CSO in Planet Coaster. They probably working on getting the rest as good as they can before looking into CSO options. I don't mind if they make their own UGC. As long as the download speeds are fast enough and keep downtime to a very minimum. I prefer to see these things handled in-game. Steam Workshop is nice, but it isn't the best it could be.

I have Elite Dangerous (also from Frontier), but i didn't activate it in Steam (only made a shortcut in Steam). I don't miss the Steam achievement or that i can see how long i played the game. I already need Origin, Uplay and online services like GOG or Humble Bundle so i can handle one more. The Elite Dangerous launcher isn't bad btw. Updates are downloaded very quickly and never had any problems. Just a launcher for Planet Coaster would be alright for me.

Oh and it should be future proof. There should be at least possibilities to back-up and save assets somewhere else (although that also has downsides when it comes to piracy i think).

I was reading atari forums, and main reason against buying PC on forums was, because it isnt on steam
