#support3rdparty - Why we temporarily shut down our sites.

Oh, we have a drama queen here! Well nevermind that it's the community of users like myself whose donations and free content creation makes the site work... HTH
It's actually Artie that makes the site work. When did you last open up INARA's source code? He has the right to ask for donations for doing a job. Maintaining a 3rd party tool to a constantly changing game is a full time job, make no mistake.

A fair point.

Pick a time when the dev's are busy sorting out update issues, and with a well-publicised event in the immediate future, and then make demands which they must know there is no likelihood of anybody being free to respond to in a timely manner.

Real classy. [sour]

What? They took time while working on the 2.3 update to TAKE OUT INFORMATION FROM THE API! And now, you're invoking the fact that they are busy sorting out update issues? Maybe if they DIDN'T spend time to take it out of the API, maybe there would be less update issues, don't you think?

Appreciation

Greetings,

I also totally support the third party websites! I mostly use eddb to search for the locations of modules or engineering materials as well as inara for the engineering materials needed for each blueprint. I also sometimes use Coriolis to see about how much a build would cost if i buy from stock. I would be really happy if either FDev would cooperate with the third party application provider or they would implement these things (especially the search for specific modules/ships/materials like in eddb) directly into the game.

Hahahahaha.

EDDiscovery, coded by a dozen of so experienced coders probably costing a firm a hundred pounds ish per hour to hire, with many thousand hours of work in it. Don't think Frontier can afford that.

Then multiply by all the rest of the tools..

I think your economics is off ;-)

You have assumed they are under an obligation to replicate everything the 3rd party tools cover. They aren't. They may have features currently covered in the road map that are years down the line that they bring forward, simply altering priorities but ultimately not changing the net development cost.

While it is saddening that matters have come to such a head, I wish all the 3rd party developers all the very best. You provide a TOTALLY AWESOME SERVICE to the ED community! I hope FDev come to value and support that effort and are willing to enter into an era of mutually beneficial development together.

I wish you the very best!

A pile of complete and utter nonsense. Arguments like these show nothing but desperation.

It's obvious the OP has zero interest in a conversation. The only desire here is to cause their 'junkies' to cry out, demonstrating the power they have. Ego's gone wild. If those heads continue to swell up, while still stuck in that orifice, it could very well get stuck in.

We, as players, are being exploited by these out of game developers. Why couldn't they just ask for the support of the posters here, rather than take the resources away from those that would have happily supported their requests? Because of: Arrogance. FD didn't respond like they wished. They are too important to fail. after all. So, they extort FD, using our voices.

I for one can't take these guys seriously until they answer: What priority this should take, and what development might be displaced as a result? If they would be successful in getting resources diverted to their cause, where would they come from, and what other features would be move out? Childishly calling for efforts FD never offered is well.... childish.

WEll it's you and you always make nonsensical posts.

Yes, yes of course that's the ONLY desire here. Ok you don't understand the OP which you didn't even read. When you get it come back and maybe we can have a relevant conversation bout the actual topic rather than the fantasy you're creating in your head?

Really - I'm getting fed up with people who think they can weigh in on a subject they know nothing about. How does that move anything forward?

I think using 3rd party sites and apps is cheating.
I also think that manually writing down anything is also cheating.
Navigating on wits alone or using the tools offered in the game is also cheating.
The game is clearly designed to be played with a blindfold and boxing gloves and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for not sticking to the vision.

I'm with you. We definitely need third-party developers to get support from Frontier, if we really want this game endure a couple more years... ten years as previously expected by Frontier? Never mind. Not this way...

Nope.. not supporting this...

Since when does doing a "labor of Love" require acknoledgement and acceptance by the group its done for...

Clamorous view of self worth by the 3rd party developers...

I will just say that you are missing the point entirely. Go back and read the original post before jumping in the middle of the thread.

The cake is a lie. [yum]

This is a cakewalk.

I'd really like to see FDev support these guys. They make these tools for the community to use which enhances the game for thousands while asking nothing from us in return. All they want is a more open dialogue with FDev so they can continue to provide all of these FREE tools. I really don't see where this is asking for a lot or would delay FDevs current pace of development and subsequent bug fixes.

Oh no... down... what do I do on the weekend now?!? 3rd Party Devs need some support - I give you my (mental) support and I press fingers you get the attention that you need in order to grow the infrastructure around and with ED. In fact, such infrastructure helps growing the community and ED.

Haha! Nice! I laughed... and I laughed. :D

I think it's a big lack of reality that there is not an in-game feature allowing to manage trading in order to find commodities and trading routes. The trading way of playing is possible, nowadays, thanks to third party tools only so I fully agree that Frontier should support 3rd party developers in any possible way.
Just to underline my opinion I announce that I won't spend any more money on E: D untill 3rd party developers get what they need!!!
