T-10 Mining?

Haven’t played for ages because the FSS sucks so hard.
Getting an FC is a goal that might get me playing again.
Mining is the current credit meta and doesn’t need the FSS.

Before 3.3 dropped I bought a T-10 for mining but hadn’t fitted it out yet.
Is it good for deep core mining or should I use something smaller?
Outfitting tips are welcome.

It is an excellent laser miner - one of the best, but I would not use the T-10 for deep core - it is too big to get in between the cracked rocks easily, and is quite slow even when boosting. Wouldn't use anything bigger or slower than a Python but YMMV.

I have been using a Phantom as I have no other use for it :)

128t of Void Opals is enough boredom for me:

Edit: mining Painite in double hotspots is just as profitable. I would use a ..............................T-10!

In WHN, I deep core mine as much as I can pack into a Krait Phantom (up to about 150t, I honestly wouldn't want to keep going past that figure) and then transfer it to a fast Cutter for relatively safe transport to the highest bidder. Pirates after the "tasty cargo" see my boost trails, that's all.

The T-10 is a safe ship if you arm and shield it right, but it is slow and vulnerable to attack by Pirates on the journey to market.

I've just binned my mining type 10 and repurposed my cargo cutter and It's one of the best decisions I've made. I really have no idea why I put up with using that flying piece of junk for so long. The cutter is better in every aspect I can think of.

While I didn't have much trouble getting my T-10 between the rocks, placing the charges was a different thing altogether. By the time I had the final charge in place, there was no time left on the clock, so most of the 'roids ended up exploding right into my face 😄 When I finally left I think I had like 30% hull left.

Double painite hot spot laser mining should get you ~50 tons of painite every 15mins ... If not change to cutter...
2.5 hours max to fill 512 tons of cutter...

If you can hit that target in T10... then good and well done, other wise your likely losing Credits per hour using that T10...
You will still be looking at about 5-6 hours per billion including all the travel time out side the rings doing laser mining as youll be looking for new sale locations some times as prices drop at stations...

I'm mining in T-10. For Opals. Works great.
You just need to work out how to pick those surface spots without squeezing into asteroid, although it's doable too.
Cockpit view is perfect for looking around for cores.

The T10's an exceptional laser-mining ship.
I wouldn't use it for Deep Core mining though. Wayyyy too sluggish.

The Cutter's a little bit faster moving between the 'roids, has better jump-range for delivering ore to market and can carry a few extra collectors whereas the T10 has better laser convergence and the cockpit view makes it easier to look for your next target while you're mining.

Basically, you can make Cr200m/hr laser-mining with the T10 whereas you might be able to make the same amount in 10 minutes less in a Cutter.
If you've already got an engineered T10, though, it might not be worth the faff of stripping out the good bits of the T10, swapping them across to a Cutter and then buying and engineering a bunch of extra bits.

I use a python It hold 226 tons of cargo if you use 2 Prospectors and two Collectors. A-rated is very nimble.

For me it about being nimble.

Exactly.

For Deep Core mining, you need to be able to buzz around the 'roids, laying charges.
You can do that in a T10, in the same way that a hippo covered in crazy-glue can do ballet.

For agility and vision, the Krait is probably just ahead of the Python but the Python's slots mean it is, objectively, the superior DC mining ship.

Yep Thats the 1-hour and a bit laser mining build for those who dont have much play time... the cutters able to carry more 5a collectors so is faster at collection than the T10..
The 7a collector is dropped for those who have 2 hours + play time session and second 256 cargo rack added... this stops the need to return to station so soon to sell but does require more play time and better distractions to avoid the boredom setting in...

Yeah, there's certainly scope for modification.
Swap out one big collector for another cargo rack or, alternatively, swap out one of the C5 collectors for a fuel scoop etc.

I never have more than 256t cargo capacity in my mining ships so I can always transfer the cargo to a Python and take it to a platform if required and an hour of mining, in one go, is about all I can stand.

I'm mining VOs in my T-9 at the moment.
No, it's not fast.
But it is fun.

Currently at 420/640 tonnes, hull down to 72% :ROFLMAO:
