Taking a break until EDO is fixed.

@Ian Phillips @Harbinger Then maybe we can get info why this was moved out of ED forum? Ngl it stinks of shady, biased moderation - nothing personal. It just seems like hiding a very critical post just so other ED players wont find it and I have noticed it is a norm here. Not a good look. It is one of the most important members of the community pointing out the big problems in the game so it is not offtop by any means...

It was probably done by mentioning NMS. He got lucky it wasn't outright locked.

Nope.

A member of the community.

Nope, a high profile member of the community.
Btw on topic of money back, I'd never do it as I had plenty of entertainment out of the game even considering my cosmetic purchases that were mostly motivated by contributing to the live seevice of the game I loved so much.
But the game, even Horizons is objectively much worse than at its peak. No storyline, broken economy and finally the exploration minigame that sank the ship for me to the bottom of the ocean - so by that account I bought a lemon.

It was a general "you". I should have used the indefinite pronoun of "one" to indicate an action from anyone in the moderation team or FDEV so I apologize for the confusion.

Now, as to the point I was making, the ED community is in chaos right now. There are very strong feelings on all sides of the issue but I have no hesitancy in saying that the community's trust in FDEV may be at an all time low. With that knowledge, it is not a stretch to imagine that many in the community might perceive moving a post that is specifically about odyssey and might have a negative impact on an already deteriorating community attitude by one of the most prominent members of that community from the odyssey forum to a forum that most probably don't even know exists as a ham handed attempt at damage control by minimizing its visibility. (Wow, that's the worst sentence ever...but I'm not a writer...and I don't really care to fix it, so it stays)

At this particularly fraught moment in time where emotions are raw, it might be a good idea to do all one can to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.

How other people may see us is simply not a factor we take into consideration when doing our duties. Nobody likes being moderated and people often post their one-sided story about how they came to be moderated on other platforms or social media after the fact. Even if we see such posts we can't set the record straight by giving context because that would be a breach of privacy so you simply ignore it and move on.

All I can say is I support the decisions of my colleagues 100%. It's not for me to second guess them, that is the job of our supervising body (the Community Managers).

Every member of this forum is the same, be they an author, youtube content maker, twitch streamer, player of Power Play, a Pirate, BGS players. Everyone.
Simply one more forum member. Nothing more.

Or do you want FD to introduce favoritism into who posts and who doesn't according to someone's perception of a posters "importance"?

No, just a bit of awareness & thoughtfulness about the ramifications of the moderator actions would be good. We are all equal, but some are more equal than others. It's just how it is. Would you moderate David Braben for example?

As has been pointed out, you have no right of reply if it's taken elsewhere... so just... think... would be my suggestion. 🤷‍♀️

I just think at a time when temperatures are running a bit high, Ian's tone in this thread hasn't helped at all, whatever the rightness (or wrongness) of the action.

Closed for review - as the discussion now relates to forum moderation which, in itself, is against the forum rules. In the interim, here's a reminder to participants of the rules relating to contesting moderation:
14) Do not contest/discuss a moderation action in public

Volunteer Moderator actions aren’t always correct; if you feel that a moderation action was performed against you incorrectly, please follow the 'Appealing a Moderation Action' guide below. Openly posting about a moderation action upon you or others on the forums is not permitted and posts regarding them will be removed. Continued arguments against moderation may result in further action towards your account.

Appealing a moderation action

To appeal a moderation action against you, email community@frontier.co.uk. Harassment and threat emails sent to us will be ignored.

Posting about it on the forums as a thread or reply to a thread is not a valid method to initiate an investigation on whether or not the moderation action performed was correct.

.... and a post from Paul in a thread regarding the recent change in tariff for some infractions:
Hey all,
Interesting to read the discussions here. Thought I'd clear a couple of things up :)

Q: Does this mean Frontier is now censoring all negative feedback?
A: Nope! You can still share constructive negative feedback just as everyone has always been able to.

Q: My brother's roommate's pen-pal's cousin got banned for sharing perfectly reasonable comments!
A: If action is taken against a post there will have been reasonable grounds for that. As always though anyone who thinks incorrect actions were taken can appeal via the 'Appealing a Moderation Action' section of the rules.

Q: I disagreed with a Moderator decision and my post was removed! CENSORSHIP!!
A: It's against the rules to contest moderator decisions on the forums because it disrupts the discussion and doesn't help in dealing with the issue. If you don't agree with a Mod decision either use the 'Appealing a Moderation Action' process in the forum rules or you can report their post if you believe it to be against the rules.

This new statement doesn't actually change what you can and cannot post on the forums. You can still be critical, you can still say you aren't happy, but if someone believes the only way they can do that is to make personal attacks then they simply aren't welcome on the forums.
