Thank You FDev

Dev communicates with us through creating the game. We communicate with them giving our feedback. Be specific. What other dev communication would you like aside from wonderful patch notes that land once in a while?

I don't simultaneously moan about the game and the lack of communication so I'm probably not the one to ask.

The tiny investment we made in buying this game doesn't indenture the developers to us for the next 50 years, does it?
Nope. But if they want more of our cash for other games, store trinkets and future DLC, it would be in their interest to stop breaking it :)
Ill never buy another FD game.

I think the way FD primarily communicates with the players and their appreciation of them are the rock solid, pristine, bug free patches and stellar QA. ;)

All they have to do is keep going in the same vein and 100% of the players will be completely devoted to the game and just love it to death, both of them.

Ok, you're not telling me what you would like, but you are convinced the responsibility for not getting what you like lies with some bad behaving customers. Wonderful communicating with you too.

PS Your sig link is broken

Maybe you should have read the article that started this conversation.

Maybe you should start a censorship initiative so you can get things that you like? I mean, serious people always set up proper filters. If you're an exec and you don't want your employee offended, you order to set up proper two-way channels and a harsh (but just) moderation team is in place to deal with the unknown. Maybe if this will be set up you can finally get what you want? Or we can go on blaming human nature a little more.

I've always found people getting very upset indeed about video games to be really amusing, so I already have what I like.

Fixed that sig-link it was a casualty of the forum upgrade.

I wouldn't call it amusing, merely waste of everyone's time.

So getting very upset about video games is a waste of everyone's time? Looks like you finally found something you and Stigbob agree with. :)

I don't know if he agrees, I know he finds it amusing. I am only saying that FD should take good care of their devs if that under discussion is indeed the problem.

Its good and proper to give genuine thanks, credit and cheers when its due.

But what do you do when you've slowly watched the technical quality and community integrity erode from former standards? How can you see trends like that and still have the same level of support as better days? Don't forget, these people aren't open source volunteers, they are all getting paid, some possibly alot more than you, to build this game.

I generally prefer not to lay myself over other random internet people, i like talking about features, experiences, stuff i have a direct connection to, and also do my appreciation with my wallet rather than attention seeking forum posts.

I only replied because its a bit sad. Its not even right now in the immediate, from maybe about this time last year, or earlier, frontier completely dropped off elite. The amount of attention to the game frontier itself was creating was much more in the past.

I don't know which game you are playing or what community you are talking about, but Elite Dangerous is just as buggy as it used to be back in 2014 and the community is just as negative as it used to be in 2014. From my view nothing really changed, the game was constantly improved while maintaining a steady level of bugs. ;)

I'll say thanks for the Cruise Assist to Frontier Team! One of the best QoL features yet, in my book.

Also well done on the NPC AI, I think it's getting better and better.

Generally Beyond was a well rounded package of updates in my book. The Chieftain and the Krait MKII, improved trading tools and deepcore mining being those I enjoy most.

Activating that Guardian Beacon was looking good too. Hoping the work on CombatZones isn't finished yet. Also hoping with all the things to do with all those space installations, PvE piracy and Thargoid content will further improve. Also powerplay... There is a lot to do.

If you Frontier Team, also keep taking the valid critcism seriously, I see myself enyoing the game for another five years to come :D

Anybody who takes the kind of communication in the examples in the article seriously, or who actually feels emotionally harmed by it, just shouldn't be on the internet.
I'm not sure I'm getting you? Are you saying that people being sent abusive messages shouldn't be on the internet if they don't just 'suck it up'?

"Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good." - Romans 12:9

I detest the bugs (especially bad ones that go unfixed months or years), but I love the game and "cling to" the hope that Frontier will someday sort it all out. FWIW, I used to finish all my posts with "I love you Frontier!! [heart] [heart] [heart]!" back in my early days on the forum (seriously, look it up), and all that "positive energy" did not magically make Frontier a great software company.

I do agree, however, that we need to be careful how we word our complaints, as there are real human beings behind the code and decisions that frustrates us. I admit having regret with how I've written some specific complaints in the past, as some of those posts might be read by an actual employee at Frontier in a way that it's hurtful to the individual rather than being a broader critique of the game / company. I'm working on improving in that area.
