Thargoid Interactions

Cant rep you again yet, but have some virtual rep for the science- I’ve been asking for a couple of weeks for people with Thargoid encounter experience to check out this hypothesis. It should confirm or deny the hypothesis that (part of) the goid logo relates to its rank. If you have EDDiscovery you can select this event type to be displayed which should give you that info. Otherwise it will be in the ED log file but not sure where that’s held.

We have some thargoid logo data logged but arent really seeing any patterns.

But has anyone tried to match the logo (either the middle ring or the outer ring or both in combination?) to the goid rank as given by the “death” event? If the hypothesis is valid there should be a clear correlation; any variation means the hypothesis is false...

Seems safe to say that this way we won't find anything new about the meaning of Thargoid glyphs.

Some of your pictures are missing the scrnshot of EDDi, 1 is missing the Thargoid's rank, although I don't suppose it'll be different ;).
But good work anyway! :)

Oops! Checked and Corrected. Though it doesn't make much of a difference, because you are right. They all rank as Elite.

The logs provided indicate all the goids involved were Elite, while I can see nothing much in common in their logos as indicated by the cockpit display. I surmise that the hypohesis that the goid logo denotes their combat rank is disproved.

That's what it looks like.

But again there are no definite answers and large rooms for lots of speculation. If my theory is right and the ships are Thargoid workhorses left behind when they retreated, then the logos could still denote the rank of their former masters, they are just not up-to-date any more.

Obviously the Thargoids remain to be a mystery, wrapped inside a riddle, hidden within a secret.

EDIT:
Awesome study, commander. I think we can safely disprove the relation between the logos and the Thargoid's rank.

Thanks, actually it was cheaper than feeding them tons of Meta-Alloy credit-wise. The hardest part was flying the Eagle to the Pleiades, it's definitly not a ship suited for long range exploration.

There was also something else I tried to test: that the chemical burn marks visible on the wrecks are indeed caused by Thargoid weapons. I received the notification about the hazardous substance detected a number of times and even managed to escape after that, but every time the ship's hull remained clean of those marks. Also I got missile warnings twice, but my ship did not survive the impact on both occasions. So I can't say for sure if these missiles did have something like a chemical warhead.

No smoking gun verifiable that way.

I have observed those marks after getting corroded by the Thargoid cloud, after destroying an interceptor. Also I got them after getting a full ram of missiles shields off. I saw them both in my Cobra and my Python, so it may be more visible depending how big your ship is?

Or it's effect is to devastating on a small ship to survive.

Do you have pictures?

Hmm, that’s interesting that you got the corrosion from the cloud. Indicates that it might simply be the corrosive effect of the ammonia.

Tinfoil idea, need someone with better skills then me to check something:

Because reasons, when under fire I got he impression that one "Iris" in the Thargoid cockpit is active (a.k.a gunner). 2 irises - pilot and a gunner role, or with 4 side "I do not how to call them - livers" - redundancy? In short, would be nice to have a close-up screenshot of alien cockpit when it is spitting fire/ it turns to red mood. If possible. Get famous or die trying.

Edit: I am collecting AI relics. In return, I will drop them in front of our strange friends and observe.

I got some images of Thargoid wrecks if anyone is interested. Some of the pictures are taken from my shadowplay recordings - also the brightness has been adjusted to get more features to show.

1. Liver or one of the hearts at the petals? (not the main heart which probably comes out of the large hole in the main body after death):

2. Some kind of marking on the white part of the liver/heart from 1.:

3. Big hole from the side:

4. From behind - looks exactly the same as the crashed vessels on different planets/moons:

6. Wreck from the side - you can clearly see the main body:

Wow, badly damaged, almost make me feel sorry for it. Almost. :)

I think it also proves, that there is no pilot, whatsoever inside, it is an entity on its own.

Yeah, it certainly would seem so. As someone mentioned on the Canonn discord when I posted some images yesterday; it looks like a dead insect.

Great photos and video, thanks for posting them.

It is known that the crashed ships are the same as the active ships we're seeing, but I don't know how widely it's known, so it's good to have someone else spotting and posting it! +rep

Yeah, I've not been playing for some weeks so I'm not totally caught up on all - so thanks for the comment!

I also noticed (due to the rings in the background) that there's some dark field emenating from the Thargoid vessel just before it explodes. It looks different than the corrosive gas (it doesn't look like a gas) and does not appear to be gravitational distortion - at least I couldn't see any in my example.

Made a video of it:

Is there a forensic doctor in the house?

I don't think that I am jumping to conclusions when I say, this proves we are not dealing with Thargoids themself, but their 'horses'.

Really interesting pictures, good work commander.
