Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

So, then… should we pay our respects to Taranis yet, or wait until either the spire clears or ThursThargsday arrives and we get to see what happens?

The latter two are delivered now that V has finished¹ being V; the next system is HIP 25654 itself, which lies at just shy of 90%! My hope is that we will be able to do a little trimming at M. Leigong, but if that last Matrix seems at any moment as if it needs a few more percent then that will override anything else.

1. For the moment...

Looking at current progress rate, I’d wager it’ll complete at some point tomorrow, perhaps in the later afternoon, or early evening. Likely nothing to be concerned about.

I’d be rather surprised if this didn’t get some kind of GalNet mention at some point, sooner rather than later.

Looks like my spire clear prediction might need revising for this Tuesday morning or right around midday. On its last two percent, it won’t be around much longer.

So… yeah, congratulations for a plan well executed, despite the complications that arose with it. I’m not sure it’d have been quite possible without the possibility of keeping samples on a carrier for the final 15% [of those inhabited controls].

Well, then—victories in Swahku, Hyades Sectors GB-N b7-2, FB-N b7-4 and BV-O b6-2, Arietis Sectors JR-V b2-4 and NX-U c2-20, HIP 25654, 79 b Tauri and 86 Rho Tauri, and collectively Maelstrom Taranis!

Thank you ever so much to everyone who has fought, rescued, evacuated, supplied, salvaged, repelled, defended, evicted, discussed, analysed, measured or tested, trained or mentored, written tutorials, created videos, developed software, maintained records—everything surrounding the almost-one-year prelude to one of the largest successful operations!

What becomes of the Titan is yet to be witnessed, but we have still an excellent achievement even if there is more to come or something disastrous occurs. I think my top guesses are nothing yet, final rescue effort or final battle, ending ultimately with abandonment and the caustic cloud dissipating such that Commanders can visit it easily. By all means commence the wild speculation!

Funny.

So, in an assumption of the Titan ‘shutting down’… if it ends up being surrounded by pods containing humans and minimal/no Thargoid presence - which in itself might have no purpose at that point - wouldn’t one have to ask themselves if then continuing to pick those pods up is worth the possible risk*?

*If that GalNet article from the 14th means anything and isn’t just a less-than-ideal, but ultimately mostly harmless reaction to trauma-induced stress. I’m sure the authorities will tell us about it before such a risk can manifest, and definitely won’t play around the issue with no preparation taken until it’s too late.
